Obama urges (bluntly tells!) Israeli PM to restart Mideast talks
AP - Yahoo News ^ | May 18, 2009 | STEVEN R. HURST and AMY TEIBEL

...Netanyahu said Monday he is ready to resume peace talks with the Palestinians immediately, but any agreement is contingent on their acceptance of Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state. His comments came after a meeting with President Barack Obama, who bluntly told the Israeli leader it was time to get back to the negotiating table....Obama said bluntly that it was important that Netanyahu, a hard-liner on peace negotiations with the Palestinians, to restart the stalled Mideast peace talks. While his language was gentle, Obama's words were notable nonetheless for being made in public.

Netanyahu said he was ready to resume peace talks with the Palestinians immediately but said any agreement depended on their acceptance of Israel's right to exist. It was not immediately clear in the way he phrased the response whether Netanyahu was demanding that as a precondition for talks.

Of course Obama wants Israel to “start” the peace talks. Why. Because if it becomes a flop, like the last ones, he can say he was not really involved, to save face. On the other hand if he was to show some actual leadership, he would start them and then, if it works, be able to take some credit for it. This all shows me what a gutless POS this president is. No risks, no chances, only sure things.

I have this dream that Netanyahu will turn to Obama and quote City Slickers:

“I crap bigger than you!”

“but any agreement is contingent on their acceptance of Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.”

That ended the talks before they started, as that is the ONE thing the Palestinians will never agree to.

Ah yes, by all means let's find that road map and get back on the Oslo goat path. Hey, just because we've gotten nowhere in 15 years doesn't mean we can't keep going nowhere for another 15.

What's important is the process, not if it accomplishes anything.

any “acceptance” they gave would only be a lie.

interestingly enough, these same people constantly accused President Bush of being arrogant and arbitrary.

Obama needs to shut his pie hole! He doesn’t know what he is talking about, period. I think BeBe knows more about his country than the anointed one!

Obama pushed hard, and it failed. Bibi pushed back, and then sidestepped the entire question of a "Palestinian" state.

Round 1 goes to Netanyahu.

Bibi knows that he does not need Obama or the United States to stand with him—he has Almighty God, who knew beforehand that the United States would eventually have an administration that would turn its back on Israel. But Obama should know from the Word of God (if he actually reads it, which I seriously doubt) that the Lord God will not tolerate a nation that becomes an enemy of Israel—so now the United States is lumped into the pile of Muslim nations that hate Israel and want her destruction. Watch out, if this point of view is not changed in this administration, there is serious judgement ahead that will be far, far worse than any economic troubles can cause.

They can talk, as there’s no problem there. And as long as the Palestinians start holding up their end of the bargain from the beginning of the Oslo Accords, there won’t be a problem.

The problem is that they’ve never held up their end of the bargain — so “talk away”.... since talk is cheap... LOL...

You said — That ended the talks before they started, as that is the ONE thing the Palestinians will never agree to.

The Hamas will never do that, and they’ve made that abundantly clear. However, the Fatah may do that, and that’s the group that the U.S. has always backed anyway and not the Hamas.

However, from what the Bible indicates, this peace agreement won’t be agreed upon by the parties themselves, probably because of the Palestinians not wanting to recognize Israel, so that’s why the coming (and future) Antichrist will *impose* the peace treaty upon the parties...

Just the audacity that O would tell Bibby what to do is just hilarious. I bet he has to excuse himself because he has this irresistible urge to laugh out loud.

The jury is still out on whether or not Obama is the AC...so far, he has not acted in a way that would eliminate himself.

In fact, for many who watch for this event...he is still in the lead!!!

The jury is not out for Christians who study the Bible... LOL...

There’s no way, shape or form that Obama fits anything to do with the Antichrist of the Bible.

You mention that for many who “watch this event” — and the Bible says that Christians will not see the Antichrist as the Rapture will come and then he will be revealed for the world to see (those who remain).

So, anyone who is “watching” is not a Christian or, at the very least, a misguided Christian... :-)

It is also the sticking point for that model of enlightenment the Saudi Plan which Pbama has been pushing.

Quietly and with a smile and praise, Netanyahu just gave Obama the bird.
