This article provides exactly five words written in
L'Osservatore Romano: "delicate question of abortion" and "radical."
The rest is an AP paraphrasing.
Perhaps it would be better to obtain the actual L'Osservatore Romano text, rather than simply trusting AP to do it right.

It’s ridiculous that the “question of abortion” is a “delicate” one.
If there is any squeemishness, why?
If there is any moral question, why?
If there is a moral question, then there must be question as to whether an innocent human is being killed.
And if there is a question about this, the side to err on is unquestionable.

The rest is an AP paraphrasing. Thank you! This is why I did not bother to ping the Catholic list. This is typical media word twisting and spin.
