McChrystal was Cheney's chief assassin (Says Seymour Hersh of Obama's New Afghan CO)
Press TV ^ | 15 May 2009 | Seymour Hersh/ Staff

Posted on 05/17/2009 5:16:22 AM PDT by tlb

Seymour Hersh says that Dick Cheney headed a secret assassination wing and the head of the wing has just been named as the new commander in Afghanistan.

Hersh said that there is a special unit called the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) that does high-value targeting of men that are known to be involved in anti-American activities, or are believed to be planning such activities.

According to Hersh, the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) was headed by former US vice president Dick Cheney and the former head of JSOC, Lieutenant General Stanley McChrystal who has just been named the new commander in charge of the war in Afghanistan.

Most of what General McChrystal has done over a 33-year career remains classified, including service between 2003 and 2008 as commander of the Joint Special Operations Command, an elite unit so clandestine that the Pentagon for years refused to acknowledge its existence.

On July 22, 2006, Human Rights Watch issued a report titled "No blood, no foul" about American torture practices at three facilities in Iraq. One of them was Camp Nama, which was operated by the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), under the direction of then Major General Stanley McChrystal.

McChrystal was officially based at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, but he was a frequent visitor to Camp Nama and other Special Forces bases in Iraq and Afghanistan where forces under his command were based.

The decision by Obama's administration to appoint General McChrystal as the new commander in charge of the war in Afghanistan and retaining the military commission for the US war-on-terror detainees held in the Guantanamo Bay prison are the latest examples of the new US administration walking in Bush's foot steps with regards to torture and denial of habeas corpus.

If most Lithuanian Jews are Orthodox, and presumably conservative, then it makes Hersh's betrayal all the more extreme and his parentage even more relevant.

Suppose we had taken in a married couple from China who had fled the Nanking massacre. Suppose they had been very grateful and pro-American. But their son grew up to be an anti-American journalist who never missed an opportunity to accuse our nation of the vilest crimes. If that were the case, his parentage would be a relevant point for discussion.

Michael Moore was born into a typical white bread family in the suburbs, so nobody makes much of a deal about it. Not because of racism, but because many Americans of long lineage take our freedoms for granted. But if someone is an outspoken anti-American, and their parents came here seeking freedom from oppression, and were welcomed here, it's a relevant point because it shows just how despicable the turncoat is. He, of all people, should know better. And if his parents were conservative and pro-American, he's betrayed them as well as his country, and is even more despicable.

The 2008 election has been over for months, but the media are still sneering about how the GOP’s strongest support came from white, protestant Southerners. They then proceed to argue that such voters are just a horrible, horrible base for a party to have. They simply aren't as good, or as divinely moral, as blacks, Latinos, and Jews.

indeed...known Christian social conservatives whether Southern or Mormon or otherwise in the media, politics or Hollywood are often singled out for being that....

btw, now that you mention Michael Moore, he is a real turd and I do take offense with Union Man style northern crackers and their proclivities

This story has no credibility except to discredit credible people that don’t exist for a reason.

Excellent comments...and right on.

However - don't expect a response from Dubyfive.
He/She appears to have behaved as the Leftist Kool-aid swilling “drive by media” — run into a room, leave a steaming turd on the table and disappear.

Once they have recited the speaking points, charges or insult - they are INCAPABLE of participating in a discussion to arrive at the TRUTH or a rational resolution.

Just a note :

Hersch denies he ever said this, and the source of this article is Iran’s PressTV.

No fan of Hersch but PressTV’s credibility is even lower than his.
