Remember Fr. Norman and Dr. Keyes in your prayers wherever you are today. Also, all the brave pro-life demonstrators who have taken time from their usual pursuits on this Sunday — pray for their safety and for their strength.

You could (if you have the stomach for it) also pray for the UND Board of Directors and Fr. Jenkins that they see the light. Hopefully this will occur AFTER they are ousted from their cushy positions and their evil intent is thrawrted.

Look up Notre Dame, Trustees, and Father Jenkins’ Final Word on this forum to learn more about the backgrounds of various Board members and why they will not oppose Obama. It’s eye-popping!

May the Lord have Mercy!

There are now more than 20,000 hits on the video of Fr. Weslin’s arrest. It should be 2,000,000.

I am not a Catholic, although I deeply admire this religion and have often thought of becoming one (great thanks to John Paul II-may God continue to embrace this wondrous soul).

I am a convert of 50 years. You will be welcomed with open arms.

For me, this is the real litmus test. Can I pray for my enemies? Can I (gulp) love them?

I'll try.

That is a good one! I think I've heard it before, but it was definitely worth a chuckle. Here is another good one:

One day a local pastor was visiting the home of some parishioners who had a teenage son. The parents were worried about what career their son would choose, so the pastor said he had a simple test that could predict what would become of him.

He would put three objects on a table and let the young man choose whichever one he wanted to have: a Bible, a wallet, and a bottle of scotch. If the boy chose the Bible, he would probably become a priest; if he chose the wallet, he'd be a banker; and if he chose the bottle, he'd become a worthless bum.

So the parents called their son into the room, and the pastor told him he could have whichever object he wished. When the boy promptly picked up all three, the pastor cried out, "Heaven forbid! He's going to be a Jesuit!"

Fine - I'll agree it was not a perfect analogy. However, I think the substance of my post was quite clear. If a man is a member of group X which wholly subsists within the larger group Y, asking him "are you X or Y?" presents a false choice, as he is both X and Y.

Please show me where some belief specific to the Jesuit order and officially promulgated differs from the doctrines and dogmas of the Church. As I said, there are some whackos who make headlines within the Society. I don't dispute that, but it is bound to happen when you have an organization of ~19,000 people.

You are right about this.

I had heard that Father Jenkins had made an unannounced visit to the White House a few weeks ago. Nothing came of this, so I guess we are to assume that he wanted to cut a deal where Obama backed out of this controversy gracefully.

I am thinking he was rebuffed.

This continues to tear at the fabric of the American Catholic Church. I just heard on C-Span, concerning this situation, from a supposed "catholic" that the grumblings are all coming from "Republican Catholics", as the Catholic Church has always been a liberal church.

Absolute rubbish! It's all about defending the faith; but there are too many out there today that know nothing of their faith and are willing to compromise their beliefs in order to achieve their desired political results.

I suspect Notre Dame Catholics supporting this visit are “social justice” Democrat Catholics and not pro-life.

I just bumped it up another one and added the last half of the 5th star.

Maybe it checks cookies or something. I delete them regularly. Otherwise I recommend watching it more.

I don't have the control for the FF cache, Netscape no longer works on youtube, but I can keep just the cookies I want in IE8 by manually deleting.

You would not believe the extra cookies and junk you pick up from ONE visit to msnbc or abc and probably more. Now I empty IE8 about once a day or every couple days even though it doesn't need it.

I bought the mp3 of that background music on amazon so I have the whole song. I like it. Usually I don't go for Christian rock music.

Husband arrived home from Notre Dame at 11:30 p.m. last night after his car broke down about 50 miles out. We packed up the family and went to pick him up.

Highlights: Received Communion from Father John Corapi at the Mass in the Grotto conducted by Father Frank Pavone.

Stood with Ted Kopple (don't know network affiliate anymore) and Grif Jenkens (Fox News) while at Mass. Has video of entire events from Saturday morning through Sunday evening.

Many interviews with those witnessing for Life (and a few clips of the Pro-Choice activists). Hopes to have them up on his blog with Craig Edwards at Committed to Romney.

Said all but four men were peaceful and respectful. Arrests were made only when Protesters trespassed on the Notre Dame campus to protest. Otherwise all were welcome and treated with kindness. Arrests were “scheduled” for every two to three hours. Only volunteers to be so were allowed (as it gets expensive at $250 a pop).

There is a movement (for which the arrests were allowed) to set the precedence to remove Fr. Jenkens via Canon Law. I hope he realizes what his efforts have cost him. Be of good cheer. Witnesses were there. Small single engine plane flying Pro-Life banner overhead entire two days. Trucks circling the campus. Campus looked lovely (as it always does in May). Students for life were about 125 out of class of 2200. 25 graduated at the Grotto with Fr. Pavone -- about 100 wore the cross and feet on the top of the mortars. Could have been more, but thankful for those who supported it.

Oh, Air Force One “buzzed” the Grotto at about 12:15 p.m. He said it was still the most awesome sight in the world. Men in black stationed around the campus were enjoying a day made in Heaven and stayed “strictly out of sight”.

God bless all who attended and worked and love this country.

Bless you. Thanks for this report.

I can't seem to find any comprehensive accountrs of what actually happened on the 17th. This was at Lucianne.com

http://www.lucianne.com/thread/?artnum=470757

"Pro-life protesters were being arrested as soon as they came through Notre Dame's main gate. Here's 80-year-old Fr. Norman Weslin being arrested, handcuffed and carried away, the first video at this site

http://www.stopobamanotredame.com/

I think the arrest total was 39, and included Norma McCorvey, the "Jane Roe" of "Roe vs Wade," who repented of her role in the legalization of abortion iand is now a pro-life Catholic.

The rest of the protestors decided not to risk arrest, but fanned out along both sides of the 2 mile route from the Interstate 80-90 exit to the campus's main entrance with their posters and banners. How many? I never heard a police estimate. Thousands.

Jill Stanek has good pictures at this site:

http://www.jillstanek.com/

Then there were the crowds at the alternative commencement in the Grotto, where Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life handed out the diplomas to the pro-life graduating seniors who didn't want to attend the regular commencement with Obama (the Grotto was jammed full, over 1,000 people), and another thousand viewing the alternative ceremony via big screens on the South Quad.

It's hard to get a total of particants, since when the arrests were made, people scattered to whatever non-arrest streetcorners they could find, including in South Bend itself, where some groups had permits for legal protest.

When I find sites with good pictures or videos I will post some more here on L-dot. "
