I think a big factor is that the high tax left-wing state of Mexifornia is imploding right before our eyes, everyone knows it, and there’s nothing anyone can do to cover that up. They may even end up having to declare bankruptcy within the year.

I suspect this is part of their plan. Declare the U.S. dollar insolvent and invent a new currency with far tighter government control so that all buying and selling must be government approved. They'll leave all the dollar's creditors holding the bag and they won't care. They've watched Latin America do this to us for decades and seen no ill consequence.
