California Voters Say Cut Government Spending, Don’t Raise Taxes

Californians will vote next Tuesday on a series of budget-related propositions, and one thing is clear from new Rasmussen Reports telephone polling in the state: Voters aren’t in the mood for tax increases to ease California’s budget woes.

Seventy-three percent (73%) of California voters oppose raising state income taxes to eliminate the budget deficit. Raising the state sales tax is opposed by 69%.

At the same time, 69% favor major cuts in government spending to eliminate the budget deficit. Just 16% oppose the spending cuts.

There is strong support for one concept that will be on the ballot next week. Ninety percent (90%) of voters say legislators should not get a pay raise if they fail to pass a balanced budget. Just five percent (5%) disagree.

In fact, most California voters want to go even further. Seventy percent (70%) believe that if the legislators can’t balance the budget, they should take a significant pay cut.

1977:

The very same year Hussein's forerunner, Jimmy Carter, took control of the White House, Howard Jarvis led the people of California in a property tax revolt.

Could we be seeing the same thing in California today? Is there ANY CHANCE IN HELL the people of California will reject big-spending liberalism--no matter WHICH PARTY IS PROPOSING IT?!

I sure hope so.

Let this be the beginning. Please.

Exactly the point!! It happens down here too, we get liberal showbirds down here who flee their states after screwing them up and do the same thing here.

Too bad we can’t just make em stay in one place, fence them in and watch as they tear themselves apart. Would make for great television ratings...

I hope the feds don’t give California a cent

The Feds owe most all states, not just Cal, hundreds of billions for failing to perform one of the few responsibilities they are actually required to do, which is to secure and protect our borders and sovereignty.

They need to pay up, or else stop taxing Americans for a job they have intentionally failed to perform.

Mosr of the police depts refuse to arrest and/or turn over illegals to the Border Patrol and most of our cities have declared themselves sanctuaries so both the feds or the state officials refuse to obay and honor the laws.

Wrong bucko.

Do you have any idea how many cities there are in Cal?

And are you suggesting this government sponsored invasion is not costing Texas, Alabama, Arizona, North Carolina, Nevada, Georgia, etc etc etc, billions every year?

Get real

Here ya go.

By the way, these are some of the largest counties.

3 California counties will check immigration status as inmates enter jail

Los Angeles Times Los Angeles, Ventura and San Diego will become the first counties in California to begin checking the immigration status of all inmates booked into jail Law enforcement officials will begin running inmates' fingerprints through federal databases this month to see if they have had any contact with the immigration system. Once the inmates have finished serving their sentences, they will be transferred to immigration custody for possible deportation
