Caffeine is far more a drug than oat bran, why don’t they classify Coffee as a drug.....?
THEY WANT CONTROL OVER EVERYTHING!!!! What a bunch of lousy control freak dictator wannabees
The definition of drug depends on how it is marketed. Thus, if I just sell oats as tasty treats, then it's not a drug. But if I sell oats as a way to lower your cholesterol, then it's a drug.
Same with caffeine. I put caffeine in a soda, it's not a drug. When I put it in a pill and tell people that they can take it to stay awake, then it's a drug.
Try that with a batch of Maui Wowee brownies, or a jug of Wildwood tea. The Drug Czar gets to determine what drugs are, and are not. Not common sense.
To the extent that you’re referring to illegal drugs, you’re right. But that’s not what the FDA regulates, and that’s the issue here. The FDA regulates legal products that are sold as drugs. The FDA determines whether a product is sold as a drug based on how it is marketed.

So if a drug company puts satins in a muffin and only sells it as a tasty muffin treat, then no body would need a prescription.
Then it becomes a food additive, which is also subject to FDA regulation (caffeine is both a food additive and a drug, and as a food additive, it is GRAS-generally regarded as safe). So short answer—no.
Now he’ll manage to pee off my cat. Our boy cat, Willie, LOVES Cheerios. They’re just about his favorite food.
The new Democrat-controlled Food and Drug Administration has decided that Cheerios are a drug and are under its control... I guess you can blame it on the oats. Cheerios are made of oats. Whole-grain oats, including the soluble fiber that makes them so healthy. See, oats contain a substance that seems to suck cholesterol out of the blood. Doctors think that's good for you because cholesterol is bad for you -- at least excess cholesterol is... Eating oats can be better for lowering your cholesterol than taking drugs... And Cheerios has put that news on the front of its box. Specifically, Cheerios claims that by eating it for a month, you can lower your cholesterol by as much as 10 percent.
I grew up in Orchard Park. I worked in Buffalo for a summer during college for a mob guy that bought old houses and turned them into professional offices/apts.
He owned a landfill up in Niagara Falls. He was the original owner of BFI waste disposal. His office was down on the Buffalo river in an old industrial part of town where they brought the grain boats in. It was right next door to the Cheerios plant. It was a ugly part of town.
My wife has type 2 diabetes and needs to watch her cholesterol. When it comes to breakfast, cheerios are the best solution we’ve found for both problems. For the past two years I’ve been eating them too, since I found out where to go to get them for $1.50-$1.75 a box. They’re even a good snack for the parrot. I never thought I’d become a public enemy for promoting cheerios consumption.
