According to Newsweek's Ramin Setoodeh, "American Idol's" Adam Lambert could "be heading home" due to those homophobic Christians that watch every week.
Lambert, Setoodeh wrote in a May 12 blog post, "has been called the best Idol' singer in the history of the show, thanks to his Celine Dion-like pipes. But he's also one of the most controversial, thanks to his Marilyn Manson-like wardrobe and his (not-so) ambiguous sexuality."
Despite the fact that Randy, Simon and Paula all like Lambert, and he's garnered enough votes to compete in the semi-finals of "Idol," Setoodeh warned of a "possible roadblock" to a Lambert victory:
"Idol" is the No. 1 show on TV at least in part because it's so family-friendly, and it also appeals to a large demographic of Christian viewers. These are the same fans who made "High School Musical" and "Dancing With the Stars" huge TV hits. Many of "Idol's" previous winners - Jordin Sparks, Carrie Underwood, Ruben Studdard - are devout Christians. Coincidence? Perhaps. But we don't know much about Lambert's faith, and that might hurt him with Christian voters. He could be extremely religious, but he's kept his religious beliefs quiet.
Setoodeh pointed out the religious background of Lambert's competitors, Danny Gokey and Kris Allens and further tipped off Lambert fans, "both have gotten substantial interest from Christian blogs and websites."
Apparently those people who read "Christian blogs and websites" also have no ear for talent. Setoodeh concluded, "Adam is still the best singer in the competition. But since Idol isn't really a singing competition - despite what Randy Jackson tells you every week - don't be too shocked if there's a shocker elimination this week."
She auditioned in SLC and was told by the Idol people that she had no real chance, that the real auditions were already done and this was all for show.

Watching American Idol is like watching minor league baseball...not so good.
A few minutes ago, Adam did indeed, scream his way through the last half of “One” by U2.
Danny gets my vote so far.
Here is a view point from some opera experts. It is interesting reading to those who like Adam’s voice.
I think he is going to be a mega star.

The only time my husband likes to watch is the audition shows.
Those “screams” are good by me. It’s his “signature”.
I completely agree with you. He’s going to be a HUGE star IMO.
If Kris gets the boot this week, his votes will go to Gokey.
I hope not. I absolutely can’t stand Gokey...he reminds me of Taylor Hicks. He was a guy who won a few years ago and has not made much of himself. Kris all the way or forget it. Adam does sing well but unless he wears a suit and doesn’t wear makeup, he looks to scary...lol.
Carry underwood being the exception. She is doing about the best of any of the past winners.
I don’t know about that. Kelly Clarkson is doing pretty good herself. She has made at least a few cents.
Since it isn’t strictly a singing competition,
and you can vote multiple times, and those of the
gay persuasion don’t appeal to teeny boppers who
like to swoon over their idols, and it’s ultimately
based on connection with the idol and likability
of the idol...
Don’t look for an Adam win.
If Kris or Danny leaves, the other will get his votes
and swamp Adam.
My story and sticking to it...
I thought Adam was awful with “One”. My dh was just listening in the other room. He said it started out good and then went off somewhere. Said just listening to his voice, he would never want to hear that song again sung like that. Adam has a career on Broadway or as the Liberace of aging baby boomer women, singing 80’s stadium rock. For me, Kris symbolizes what Idol should be about. While the producers were busy pimping Adam, he has quietly improved each week and moved up in the standings. His voice isn’t the best, but his artistry in interpreting songs is outstanding, and I would buy his music and enjoy listening to him on the radio. A true American “rags to riches” story, unlike Adam who has sung professionally and has been heavily hyped by AI/19E in the hope of cashing in on him. In return, he gets a fast track into the music business which is struggling right now.
I agree. I don’t see that screaming drag queen winning anything but a Vegas act...
Please give a warning when you’re going to post stuff like that! LOL! I heard a discussion of last night’s results on a local radio talk show this morning and they were still questioning if Adam Lambert is gay. I see blog posts where girls/women don’t believe it. The big deal is he is “flaming” gay....not someone who should be put up as America’s “idol.”
Plus, homophobic or not (I reserve the right) when my wife said he was gay I liked him less than I did before she said that.
I liked Allison but all her songs sounded the same. I referred to her as a one trick pony several times this season, and I am a rock fan.
I preferred Allison’s tone. For 17 she’s fantastic, but I also love Janis Joplin. And for all the crap about lacking personality between songs, where was Adam’s personality, and he is 26? Regardless, I like Axel Rose, Robert Plant (LZ and Honetdrippers etc), Steve Tyler and I’ll throw in Chris Isaac, as I see Adam as a combo of them and perhaps more (Harvey Fierstein?). But I can’t get the “crying baby” image out of my head when he sings and I think where his scream volume should be at “11”, he puts it at 12 or 13, its a little over the top, but perhaps a studio would fix that. Its like how Kelly Clarkson used to use the power voice during her time on Idol, but not much since. I also prefer Bo Bice to most Idol folks. Daughtry? I keep hearing sheep.
Looks like you got your wish. wtg.
What I said earlier is true in reverse. Danny’s votes (the majority, at least) will go to Kris. It will be nice to see a fellow Arkie win.
