Social Conservative Leaders Feel Scapegoated
RealClearPolitics ^ | May 11, 2009 | David Paul Kuhn

There is a brooding sense within top social conservative circles that they have become the revolving scapegoat of the Republican Party. Many of the longtime leaders of the Christian right, from Richard Land to Tony Perkins to Gary Bauer, expressed resentment in extended interviews with a singular theme: that the most loyal GOP bloc has been so quickly thrown under many critics' bus.

GROW UP!

The ONLY CONSERVATIVE out there fighting the battle is Rush and Cheney.

These TWO have nothing to gain. They are doing it for their love of country. Cheney, in particular, doesn't have much longer. I caught him on an interview. He GASPED for breathe as he laid out his warnings and concerns about America.

These other whiners are a disgrace.

It's not about FEELINGS.

GET OUT THERE AND SPEAK UP!

Well, according to this Columbia University "art history" major we are un-American because we don't think sexual perverts are reason enough to destroy the sanctity of marriage. I'm fed up with liberal republicans (perhaps the whole brand) telling us we need to be Liberal-lite...why don't they abandon their ideology and their convictions...I'll be happy to vote for a third party and I don't care about going to a damn cocktail party.

We the people aren't suppose to represent the Republicans in Washington. They're suppose to represent us.

The RINOs in Washington have it backwards.

They shouldn't get overly excited about what the usual media whores and bloviators like Meg McCain and Colin Powell have to say. The base knows where we stand and what the party stands for.

Some of these folks want to depend Caesar to pass laws like passing the prohibition amendment to stop drinking.

Boo Hoo.

Last year, I pleaded with these organizations to show some support for Duncan Hunter, and I never even got a response from any of them.

Then we got stuck with RINO McCain as candidate.

And NOW look what we’ve got for POTUS!

They should have stood up for a conservative much earlier in the game; maybe we would have then had a chance.

Clean house.Take over the party. Throw the RINO's under the bus. Speak up! Conservatism always wins.

As a matter of fact, the House and Senate were taken over by democrats because the new democrats campaigned with more conservative values than their Republican opponents.

Look at Oboma. He won! He ran on:
Tax cuts
Cutting government waste
Eliminating social programs that no longer work
Marriage
Christianity

(Liberal issues were minimized by the MSM until after the election)

People loved him for it (although they now feel buyers remorse because he lied))

I guess I'm what you might call a "social conservative". I think abortion is killing our nation's economy and security not to mention setting us up for annihilation by the wrathful and just God of creation.

I have to tell you though, I don't feel "scapegoated" by the GOP, no not at all. No, what I feel is something quite different. What I feel more and more, is libertarian. Let the heathen get high and let the State run dry.

Like you, I heard Rush say that today about Vice President Cheney and how, since he has nothing to gain, it's obvious that he's doing it out of love for his country.

But, what if some retired ultra-lib was in the same spot? Would we conclude he's doing it for love of country? Of course not; we'd say he's doing it because he craves the spotlight. I'm sure that's exactly what all the libs are saying about Vice President Cheney today.

The media is trying their best to convince the GOP to drop social conservatism from their platform. And we all know the media always have the best interests in the GOP at heart.

He would be having loads of fun getting his butt kissed by the MSM, not kicked like Cheneys' is getting.

Until Conservatives learn how to fight they are going to lose.

When they talk about homosexual marriage - We should start by saying “what I personally think about homosexuality and gay marriage” is immaterial. Those are my personal feelings, I am not trying to get my personal feelings codified.

The issue is the constitution is clear - the rights of individuals are protected- not of groups. Each time they legislate a protected class, it has not helped that class, as our founding fathers new it would not. Laws made to protect some citizens at the expense of others will always fail.

We are supporting the clarification of the definition of marriage. That marriage is between one man and one woman.

This is far different from supporting legislation making it illegal for homosexuals to form a union. That would be discrimination of an individual’s rights.

We are just reserving the word marriage to mean what it has always meant between one man and one woman.

Homosexuals are free to come up with another word and define it how ever they want but we respectfully ask to leave the word marriage alone.
They are not the only ones affected by this, so are Muslims and poligamists.

This issue has been used to drive a wedge between groups of people. The far left knows they can’t be successful if Americans are not isolated and angry at all other groups.
