Lawyers for the 32-year old said the court had reduced the eight-year jail sentence to a suspended two-year term and she would soon be freed.

In a totalitarian country, you are never free until you cross the border on your way out.

Time to come back home to Fargo, Roxana. You have nothing in common with those savages.

Because it didn't suit their purposes.
Now ask yourself how you could write the question you did. Totalitarian is not synonymous with draconian (although in Iran it is). Totalitarian means that the government is not subject to the will of the majority, nor constrained by natural rights constitution.
Are you wanting to make an argument that Iran's judiciary is independent?
“Roxana Saberi, a 31-year-old dual American-Iranian citizen, was convicted of spying for the United States and sentenced to eight years in prison after a swift, closed door trial earlier this month.”
“Saberi, who was born in the United States and grew up in Fargo, North Dakota, moved to Iran six years ago and worked as a freelance journalist for news organizations including National Public Radio and the British Broadcasting Corp. She received Iranian citizenship because her father was born in Iran.”

The traitor to the United States can stay and rot in Iran. She willingly accepted Iranian citizenship. Now she will go to Europe and badmouth the U.S.A. B!tch can rot.
She is the former Miss North Dakota. Like many Iranian Americans, she doesn't think very much of the current Iranian regime and went to Iran to interview people, especially women.
Like a typical totalitarian regime, Iran trumped up some charges and through her in prison.
If I'm not mistaken, the NK journalists were working for a Christian broadcaster investigating the wretched abuses against North Koreans along the NK-Chinese border. It is not altogether clear that they crossed the border into NK of their own accord.
If these were MSM journalists they would be relatively safe, as they would agree not to write anything that poorly reflects on the totalitarian regimes.
