I’m not sure what to make of this.
It does not say that Obama has leaked Israeli secrets to Lebanon, leading to the arrest of people spying for Israel.
What it says is that we have been giving Lebanon money for some time to beef up their security and military—presumably in hopes of keeping Lebanon out of the hands of Syria and Hezbollah. So, as the article says, this started under Bush. And apparently it was not a leak or a betrayal, but Lebanese intelligence that made the arrests.
Lebanon is a very difficult case. I’d say that it’s probably a good idea to try to help them stay free of Syrian/Iranian control. But of course it’s also dangerous. yet it’s in Israel’s interest as well as ours to try to maintain an independent Lebanon, as far as that’s possible.
I’m not saying that this article is wrong, but possibily it’s misleading.

“U.S. helps Lebanon crack alleged Israeli spy rings”
By Haaretz Correspondent and AP , By Yoav Stern
SNIPPET: “Lebanon arrested five people over the weekend suspected of belonging to an intelligence cell transmitting information about Hezbollah to Israel, the most recent arrests in a two-month crackdown apparently aided by American training and equipment.”
They're talking about funding and training. Like blaming the US for terror attacks employing US waspons or training. I believe the individual in charge of training for Hamas in Gaza is a former member of the US Army. That said, providing arms to the palestinians is stupid, and it would make sense to hold off ramping up aid to Lebanon till we see the results of the elections. It's essentially becoming a Syrian/Hizbollah run military and state, that could become official. I won't be surprised to see Syria move back in.
