WASHINGTON (CNN) Prominent Republican Bill Bennett took issue Sunday with what he called the medias focus on Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Asked about the Republican Partys increasingly public struggle to define itself and identify new leaders after eight years of the George W. Bush administration, Bennett said the press should be less myopic in its coverage of the GOP.
One of the things the media could do some of the media is to move the debate off Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh, Bennett, a CNN Contributor, said on State of the Union. This is probably not the future of the Republican Party, added Bennett.
You dont think Gov. Palins the future of the Republican Party? queried CNN Chief National Correspondent John King.
I do not, said Bennett. It could talk about a Paul Ryan or a Mike Pence. It could talk about a Bobby Jindal. It could talk even about a John Kyl or a David Petraeus. You know, theres a lot of talent in this party.

Is Bennett in contract renegotiation?
Gamble away your life's savings and leave us alone.
Bill Bennett sounds like another “Supposed” Republican telling us what to think. Hey Bennett, how about viewing the crowds Sarah gets when she comes to the lower 48. The Evansville, Indiana speech she gave had over 3,000 people attending..the largest ever, Oh gee I wonder why
If you’re just going to sound like a garden variety RINO, Bennett, we have no use for you, just fade away.
Bill who?
Bennett is yesterdays news. Go back to Vegas bill.
Gingrich on Fox News Sunday named three Governors who he thought were the future of the GOP and missing was Sarah Palin. Interesting how she scares the elite of the GOP!
Stop hyperventing and please put what he is saying in proper context. He is saying that he doesn’t think Palin will run in 2012, that’s all. Good grief.
Never heard of the guy. Sounds like a clueless jerk.
Republicans need military experience.
If America still exists after Obama is finished, America will be at risk.
None of the stiff shirts Bennett named can draw crowds like Palin, not even Jindal, I dare say, given his recent pathetic performances.
So get lost Bennett. You’re an idiot. Palin being on the ticket saved the GOP ticket from being dusted in a completely embarrassing fashion.
I don’t necessarily disagree with him. ONE person isn’t going to remake the GOP. Sarah is terrific- I like her- but she’s not the beginning and end.
At the same time- someone who understands the constitution and is passionate about WHY it has served us so well, and speaks clearly and enthusiastically about it- would be a welcome change.
I think we would do well to avoid the same kind of worshipping we see on the left with Obama.
When I start to hear the leadership in the GOP consistently talk and VOTE for principles- then I’ll know we’re making progress.
Where’s it say that?
Neither the top post, nor the article at the link, appear to read that way.
Palin is great but so would Jindal (Limbaugh’s favorite). If Bennet thinks there are other conservatives who can ably carry the Republican banner, I have no problem. If on the hand hand he thinks he can marginalize Palin, then yes, we do have a problem on our hands. The old guard must go- Gingrich, McCain and the crowd.
While it’s true no one person can “save” us, I really don’t see how you can equate Sarah Palin with Nancy Pelosi.
ANOTHER RINO REVEALED!
