Michael Savage Banned in the UK
The American Thinker ^ | May 10, 2009 | Peter Barry Chowka

Well-known "independent conservative" radio talk show host Michael Savage has been catapulted to a new level of controversial notoriety, this time on an international level. On May 5, 2009, the Drudge Report broke the news in the U.S. that Savage had been put on an official list of people banned from entering the United Kingdom.

The so-called "least wanted list" of foreign undesirables who are now prevented from traveling to the UK is maintained by the British government's Home Office, roughly the equivalent of the U.S. government's Department of Homeland Security. "Since 2005," the BBC noted in reporting on the list, "the UK has been able to ban people who promote hatred, terrorist violence or serious criminal activity."

On May 5, the Home Office published the list, contained in the document "Home Office name [sic] promoters of hate excluded from the United Kingdom," on its official Web site. The sixteenth and last name on the list was "Michael Alan Weiner (also known as Michael Savage)." The Home Office described Savage as a:

"Controversial daily radio host. Considered to be engaging in unacceptable behaviour by seeking to provoke others to serious criminal acts and fostering hatred which might lead to inter-community violence."

It is indeed curious that this ban came hot on the heels of DHS’s “radicals” list.

How about Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, etc. etc... In other words is it illegal for Republicans to go to UK now?

But what really happened was that she wanted a list of Muslim extremists and so-called ‘preachers of hate' banned from the UK for domestic reasons, ‘cause we've got a lot of preachers of hate preaching from the pulpit that we can't get rid of in Britain. And so it was like, ‘At least we can stop them from coming into the country.' But then, of course, that was looking a bit like borderline racist, so the instruction went out, ‘Go and get me some angry white guys and put them on the list, as well.'
That's exactly what I thought happened when I first read this story on Drudge.

Smith is afraid to ban only Muslims so she looks around for some non-Muslims to ban as well. All the controversy over the Savage-ban actually helps her because it focuses attention on the non-Muslims she's banning. She doesn't WANT to be accused of banning Muslims-only, so this Savage-attention is just what she needs.

As for Savage, who is absolutely right to be outraged at being lumped into a category with Muslim extremists, this is a good issue for him, one that will bring out the best in him and one which will, hopefully, help him and other talk show hosts think of ways to prevent the Great Talk Show Silencing that our own Muslim Extremist President is concocting behind the scenes, right now, as we speak.

Make no mistake about it. This is based on gut-level, but the genesis of this act was not within the UK.

It necessarily had to be conceived and orchestrated by individuals or an agency of the US Government under Obama. Either DHS, or the White House, or State Department, or a member of Congress working through international channels.

If that were in fact the case, there are grounds for a violation of civil rights or an abuse of power lawsuit toward those US government officials. I am sure the e mails had been deleted and the phone records have been destroyed now that the initial joke is over.

My own suspicious are the DHS, since their corollary UK organization is the Home Office, and Savage for weeks had criticism of the DHS internal report going on his show. Connect the dots, folks.

I guess the question is, Ms. Smith, how did you come to initially know of Mr. Savage--was his show introduced to you by someone outside of the UK?

A lot of very curious Brits will surely begin to listen in to his web broadcasts. Might give the Right over there a little more backbone.

Do we cover radio personalities from England? Maybe they are just saying that we will only play English news makers. I don’t think we need to look too much into this. Why would people in England want to hear about American day-to-day stuff. We don’t hear about England everyday from the English newsmakers.

Actually I was just there in November...the day after the election. They gave me standing ovations...it was sickening. I felt very uncomfortable. The papers that are read on the Underground were tributes to Obama. I had a great time but the Obama Rama was overwhelming.

Considered (by the communist democrat party and progressive liberalism a dangerous political enemy to their totalitarian enslavement of Americans in his tirades against the liars and thieves of the American liberal left) to be engaging in unacceptable behavior by seeking to provoke others to serious criminal acts and fostering hatred which might lead to inter-community violence.”
They are fast tracking their agenda against all conservatives and Christian in America and will destroy those who love freedom and justice and believe Jesus is Lord and Christ.

Because she’s a socialist idiot with an IQ approximately equal to all other socialist idiots in the world and she really does see no difference between someone calling for the defense of the US Constitution and the Liberties it grants to Americans... no difference between that and Hamas terrorists.

Actually, she’s probably a thousand times more comfortable with Hamas terrorists than she is with the American concept of individual liberty.

Something Savage might try, if only for its amusement value: seeking a federal court order to prohibit American entry to all Britons, on the grounds that since their own government finds them too dangerous to be allowed access to weapons, they must be too dangerous to be allowed into a country where access to weapons is as easy as it is here.

The order probably wouldn’t be granted, but the British government would have to fly up its own arse backwards to fight it.

What I have suggested is he fly unannounced to the UK from San Francisco, and try to enter on a tourist visa. Just prior to landing at Heathrow Airport, a few hours perhaps, his staff in the USA alert the US Embassy in London (Consular Section/US Citizens Services Section) that Mr. Savage is on a flight to London and is shortly landing and may need consular protection and advice over a possible *incident".

Savage will infact be on the UK Home Office list, and denied at Immigration. He will have the right to ask for a US consular official to appear before he is deported on the next flight out.

The case can really be pushed, and the Brits can really be made to feel embarrassed, and the US government forced to take an stance on the issue.

One thing is for sure. This is NOT an attack on Savage, per se, it is an attack on Limbaugh, Levin, Ingraham, Coulter, Malkin, Hannity, etc. etc. etc., all conservatism on the radio and the Free Press. They have attacked the one with the least amount of fraternal support to isolate him, and they have engaged the attack through a foreign government beyond the purvey of American Constitutional Law and Protections. I realize some, perhaps many here, do not like Savage. I dont like some of his schtick, too. But that is not the point!!

This is all by design. I call on all Freepers to get involved. THIS IS THEIR OPENING SALVO to crush conservative, free speech in the United States under Obama and aided and abetted by pan-European socialism.

since their own government finds them too dangerous to be allowed access to weapons

It doesn't, which rather spoils an otherwise entertaining scenario.

I sent an email to Queen Elizabeth yesterday asking her to please come to the aid of the right of Michael Savage and Gert Wilders to come to Britain and express their rights of free speech. Michael Savage was saying today that there was a “viral” reaction to the announcement that he was going to be kept out of Britain. The people are coming to the defense of free speech.
