INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Roger Penske says he is contemplating a bid for the Saturn automotive brand that General Motors Corp. plans to sell or shut down.
While Penske has not yet made an offer, he said Friday a decision would have to come soon and that a number of unidentified details need to be worked out.

Well, it’s not gays buying the Mini Cooper S, and there’s enough of those being sold.
This is the competition for the Mini, as it was back in the 60s. Both the Mini and the 500 take over where the Dodge Neon left off in terms of little but stupidly fast cars.
Around here only gays and girls drive minis. Same with VW bugs and Smart cars. Those are all girl cars.

Saturn is mostly rebranded Opels these days. Since Opel is (apparently) going away, Saturn’s screwed.
Fiat hired in a boatload of guys from BMW about 5 years ago and told them to go fix all the quality problems.
The Europeans say they did. Fiat’s up near the top of their quality charts these days.
What’s not surprising is that the French have taken Fiat’s place down at the bottom of the list.
Fiat ranks dead last in the UK on customer satisfaction (5/5/09).

Um, that’s JD Powers. The same idiots that just ranked Jaguar tops in quality. I’m a Jaguar fan, and I’m sorry, but the current product is fecal matter. The XF has electrical issues, there’s a silent recall on the gearshift on the thing, and the “magic” AC vents are known to rotate closed when the thing gets hot. The XK’s not much better, with random-fail reverse light clusters and other issues.
JD Powers won’t open their data up for peer review any more and their lists don’t match what other people are finding.
How is it on snow?
According to the Italians and the Swiss, pretty good - as good as you can get with a FWD car, anyway.
JD Powers is just the messenger. They measure customer satisfaction, so you are basically calling Fiat owners idiots for not liking their crappy cars. I suspect you have never owned or even driven a Fiat.
