Actually the ACORN statement above is an assumption. Are these guys ACORN? If not how did the gov’t get thousands of workers so quickly?
Umm...the same way they do for every Census; advertising for people for part-time jobs and having fairly low standards.
Again, there may be some census worker somewhere that works for ACORN, but the majority in 1999-2000 were retired folks looking to make some extra money (was hard to recruit because the economy was fairly good). This time around there may be more younger people. In any event, its beyond ridiculous for people to assume they're all from ACORN.
I am working for the census. They were setting up employment interviews back in december-jan. I went to my interview in early feb, and went through my training on April 20th. Address canvassers have been working for awhile.
And no, it’s not acorn. They are doing this so that we know which addresses from 2000 are still valid and that all addresses are accounted for.
