You can't like the early debate over Supreme Court Justice David Souter's successor. President Obama says his choice will advance ethnic and gender diversity, but also put someone on the court who has "empathy, of understanding and identifying with people's hopes and struggles."
Democrat Patrick Leahy of Vermont, Senate Judiciary Committee chairman, wants someone from "outside the judicial monastery, somebody who has had some real-life experience, not just as a judge."
Though American Idol judge Paula Abdul would seem to be the best fit, it's clear the Democrats don't want someone who will follow the law, but make it up as they go along based on their own experiences and prejudices.
Ping to a Republican-American Editorial.
If you want on or off this list, let me know.
I expect to see him as the Grand Marshall of the next Gay Pride Day parade, wearing leather chaps.
Perez Hilton has been a judge and had some life experiences. The libs would love him and the sane people would not.
A couple of intense elimination rounds on a reality show ought to produce a good justice! It’s the modern way.
I like it! Can I be Simon? Please, please?
“Your dismal grasp of the values and basic world view of the Founding Fathers and your pathetic inability to read the plain words of the Constitution are almost overshadowed by that ridiculous suit and your hideous breath. Randy, Paula, Yes or No?”
Thanks for the ping Graybeard.
