Postage rates are increasing on Monday, May 11 for first class postage and other services. .. it's not too late to lock in the current rate by buying Forever Stamps.
"If you buy them today at today's price, it doesn't matter if you use them in numerous years to come, even 100 years from now, that stamp will still be good as a first class stamp, even though you paid 42 cents for it,"
But time is of the essence, because the Forever Stamp rate also will increase on Monday.

I just got 4 packets of stamps about a week ago. Have to get 4 packets of 2 centers now. #%@**^!
I have heard of people buying these forever stamps in huge quantities, as a hedge against inflation. Even if you don’t need to use them, you should be able to sell them for 5-10% less than first-class postage in the future.
Of course, the USPS could at some point say: “Forever expires next week.” and kill the value of your stamps...
I buy Forever Stamps. Still valid for First Class regardless of postage rates. Rates aren’t going down, so you can’t lose.
When the hell is UPS going to take over the Ruptured elephant we call the US postal system??????
when government finally realizes it is throwing money down a hole..
Probably never
Remember when postage rates used to increase once every few years, instead of a few times a year?
The last time around, they claimed that prices were going up because of the increased price of gasoline. Now that gas has come down by half, are the postage rates going down? No... they’re going up AGAIN.
UPS is owned by the teamsters.
I suggest FedEx take them over as they aren't union...yet.
just get rid of the post office.
Since the middle of the 1970s postage rates have been pretty well matching inflation.
I was considering buying another couple books, but I realized I still have almost a full book of 2008 Christmas stamps along with two and a half books of forever stamps. At my current rate of usage (all bills except taxes are paid through the web) I already have enough stamps for the next couple of years except for Christmas cards which I always get that year's Christmas stamps. If I start hoarding the glue will dry out on my Forever stamps before I use them.
I was glad to see that the new 44 cent Purple Heart stamps were already being issued. Seems there has been a delay in getting the PH ones up to tne new rate, when they have increased postage in the past.

I think Fedex handles the actual shipping on a lot of the mail for the Post Office, there is supposed to be a contract in place between the USPS and Fedex to so.
I’ve mailed a couple of hundred packages in the past few years (mostly vacuum tubes sold on ebay) and have had very good luck with First Class Mail, in fact I don’t think a single package has been lost. Most of the packages are 6oz to 10oz in weight, which cost $2.00-$3.00 to ship. I get three day service from Atlanta to the West Coast, and two day delivery to a lot of the rest of the country.
I don’t have any issues at all with the actual delivery of mail, but don’t get me started on the poor service at some of the local Post Offices. I print all the mailing labels at home and never visit the Post Office unless it’s absolutely necessary.
The thieves edge the price up a cent or two at a time, the frog in the hot water method. Crooks, making our money cheaper and hurting the economy by increments.
I bought several hundred forever stamps last month. I meant to buy more before the price rise, but I guess it’s too late, unless you have a P.O. that’s open Saturday mornings.
When I was a kid...eons ago to be sure....1st class mail was 3 cents , postcard one cent and delivery..twice per day in the city. Then came FDR and the unions..
If I were you I'd send UPS management a letter suggesting exactly what you proposed. They need some laughs!
The Post Office was unionized when FDR was still a glint in his babydaddy’s eye.
Most folks have bee POd at the po for ages now. The po is
irrelevant—put it to sleep and be done with it.
How many here know that the PO does not receive a Dime of tax money?
They are the ONLY self supporting agency connected with the government. http://www.usps.com/communications/newsroom/postalfacts.htm
But, since GM, Chrysler, Banks, etc are getting tax money, that may change.
“How many here know that the PO does not receive a Dime of tax money?”

Another bs story!
A Congressional monopoly on first class mail and dummies wanna preach about no tax $$$ and ignore their monopoly???
A rose by any other name is still bs!
Mental levels like this is what got us where we are today with an outlaw gubmint, etc.
Like 0’pinhead sez, “wise-up!”
