Palin definitely part of GOP effort
NBC ^ | 05-07-09 | Kelly O'Donnell and Domenico Montanaro

Though it was reported three days ago that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would officially join the national Republican re-branding effort, the National Council for a New America, House GOP Whip Rep. Eric Cantor wanted to make it really official today.

"I am pleased to announce that Governor Palin has joined the panel of experts," Cantor said. "When NCNA was announced last week, we spoke about a dynamic organization that worked to constantly bring in new people and innovative ideas. The launch of the National Council was just the first step in a growing effort to engage the American people in a candid discussion as we work to overcome our shared challenges with common-sense ideas, building a stronger nation along the way."

I wonder if all the premature ejaculators who were slamming this organization the day it was announced as a RINO-only affair a few days ago will change their minds.

Often in life, it pays to hold your fire until you are sure of something.

Palin is gonna show them how it’s done. The rest of them are too wimpy to come up with any ideas.

I surmise the “rebranding” is going to end up with smoking “(R)”’s being imprinted on a number of Rhino hides, courtesy or the Alaskan lady.

Nope. Now it's a bunch of RINO’s using a conservative as window dressing. I guess she didn't learn from the campaign what these people are all about, maybe she will this time.

Palin will not spend too much of her time with this:

Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton then said Palin would indeed join the GOP group. That inspired an Associated Press story declaring that “Palin has joined a list of Republicans who will take part in listening tours across the country.”

So, I asked Stapleton, is Palin heading out on a listening tour?

No, she said, Palin's not going on tour and has no events scheduled with the group.

As I said on a previous thread, she HAS to be pragmatic. If she wants to be a national candidate for 2012, she NEEDS some RNC cooperation. Anything else is delusional.

If she’s a Reagan republican and can keep them from trying to dress up big government instead of getting rid of it, then I’m all for it. That isn’t what has been going on, however. You can watch the video on cspan.org if you haven’t seen it already.

I get a feeling that she stands up better on her own than with the likes of, say, Mitt Romney. She doesn’t really need those clowns trying to steal her thunder.

Romney and McCain are Experts on getting illegal immigrants
flocking to the USA.

Romney is the expert on socialized medicine, the imposition
of gay marriage, overturning Constitutions, and you know what.

I hope that Gov. Palin comes out of this as THE leader of the GOP - otherwise, all we’re bound to get is another RINO to vote for in 2012.

A look at the panel of "experts" indicates that they have a reasonable cross-section of moderate and conservative opinion within the party. But we will not know if anything real is happening unless there is a nice big fight.

I devoutly hope that such a fight breaks out. I want to see Palin and Haley Barbour on the one hand take on McCain and and let's see where Mitt Romney comes down between them. If there is no fight, there is no soul-searching. The party does not have too many chances left to come clear about what it means to be a Republican and how to save the country from the Manchurian mountebank who is stealing it from our children.

“Palin is gonna show them how it’s done.”

I’m afraid she’ll “show them how it’s done” — and then they’ll kick her to the curb first chance they get. They’re using her to attract the conservatives; when/if they get the conservatives her usefulness will be done.

SHE needs to be the “maverick” now.
