As a parent of a 3 year old I find this story especially heart warming. My son is one who tends to run off if given any opportunity.

My son, who is a healthy adult now, used to find “trails.” He would put his head down and follow said trail, no matter where it led. That was a long childhood.

As the mother of an escape/artist 2 yr. old, my first reaction to reading this story was “there by the grace of God go I!”

We had thingies on the door knobs and rigged up the doors to chime when opened, or we would have lost our daughter for sure when she was three.

no kidding, ours made it next door a few months ago...about 40 yards

slipped out the door in a home full of other loud kids and headed out to see their black lab

the neighbor called and we did not even know he had slipped out

embarassed of course but so grateful

in a loud large family this sorta thing can easily hapen with adventuresome little boys in particular

Me too. I have a 3-year old boy who looks somewhat like this kid, so this brought a tear...

Being the grandparent of an extremely precocious three year old grandson, I can certainly understand the warm fuzzies this story creates.
