The Senate's two Republicans argued that a minority of Islamic extremists have killed many innocents in terrorist attacks. "I recall radical Islamists around the world cheering the horrors of 9/11. That is the day all civilized people of all religions should remember," said Republican Sen. Fred Hemmings to the applause of more than 100 people gathered in the Senate to oppose a separate issue -- same-sex civil unions.

When rewarding Islam with celebratory trophies, I prefer "Mass Murder Month".

That's only because we don't name centuries.

What about “Buddhist Day,”, “Jewish Day,” “Zoroastrianism Day,” “Shinto Day,” “Christianity Day,” “Hindu Day,” “Wiccan Day” and even “Atheist Day?”

Exactly! Let someone propose a "Baptist", "Lutheran", or "Presbyterian" day and see how far they get.

And let us not forget the Catholics, or what about the 7th Day Adventists, then the Scientologists! It will never end.

It seems the more people clamor for "unity" and not drawing lines between classes, races, etc. the more the politicians come up with ways to separate us by proclaiming special days for recognizing minorities. We have Black History month, so will we next have Brown East Indian History month...then White Swedish History Month, etc. What about a special day to commemorate Blonde girls who had to suffer all the dumb blonde jokes...they felt abused too!

Special days and months for different races, sects, religions only enforces separatism. Jeeze these people are nutso anymore. If we are all Americans, we don't need all these separate holidays (that Mexican one, Cinco whatever, that Obama celebrated comes to mind) in our country.

Talk about an OMG-WTF moment! Not to mention outright falsehoods about Islam.
