She’s a kid.

She found out the truth the hard way, as so many others do.

With all due respect, my FRiend, I think she should speak out. There are NOT enough people her age saying this. They ignore us old geezers (adults). We’re aren’t cool enough, dude. LOL

Maybe I’m wrong, but I see no downside to Bristol Palin explaining to her contemporaries exactly what they can expect if they think sex at 17 is without consequences.

The problem is, she is not really a wonderful person to advise kids not to have sex, because she has produced just what a lot of teenage girls want: a lovely baby. Many teenagers, especially minority teens, see no downside to having a baby. It's not considered a disadvantage. Bristol is giving an example of what they want. The baby looks cute, Bristol's having no trouble with money or parental acceptance, she's having a great life, so the girls figure, Why not?

What they should see is what a struggle it is to have a baby as a teenager. They should be told about the endless sleepless nights, the screaming, the self-denial motherhood requires, the expense, the exhaustion, the limitations.

It does make more of an impact when someone they can relate to says, “Look. This is why you shouldn’t.” It stops being a lecture and becomes a real life example.
