KIM STOLZ: Is Obama’s Supreme Court Pick In the Bronx?
FOX News Blogs/foxnews.com ^ | May 6th, 2009 9:01 AM Eastern | KIM STOLZ

Despite his high approval ratings, President Obama still has a lot to prove as far as appointments go, given the scandals that have surrounding many of his cabinet appointments. And this is on top of the loose-cannon known as Vice President Biden. The success and smoothness of President Obama’s next few significant decisions are vital. Somewhat serendipitously, the most important decision for him yet, both politically and personally, has just landed on his desk.

Just a week ago, and ironically on Obama’s 100th day in office, Supreme Court Justice David Souter, sent a letter informing the president of his decision to resign from the Court at the end of this term.

Sotomayor is not only a qualified choice, but politically, a safe one.

——————————————————————————————————————————————-

Obama must now search his Rolodex –- and his soul –- to appoint a new Supreme Court justice that will fulfill his promises of “hope” and “change,” while not attracting too much ire and scrutiny from the right. Let’s at least hope he chooses someone who has paid his or her taxes.

President Obama is a man of large gestures, but also a man who clings tightly to pragmatism. He is a grass roots organizer yet also a president who has quickly learned that he cannot be a radical activist if he even cares to dream of seeing a second term.

" There are other potential and likely nominees whose names have been thrown in the mix, such as Jennifer Granholm, Elena Kagan, Diane Wood, and Seth Waxman. They’ve all been rumored to be on Obama’s short list, but none fulfills the criteria above so closely as Sonia Sotomayor. With the added pressure that Obama will feel from Latino and female interest groups, Sotomayor will feel not only like a qualified choice, but politically, a safe one. Of course, though, this all is contingent on an absence of skeletons in the Sotomayor closet. What the Obama administration cannot weather, at this point, is his Supreme Court nominee stepping down. His team better make sure to do all of their homework this time. "

Zero will not pick a closet lib hiding out in rural parts of the country like David Souter.

His pick is predicted to be an in-your-face liberal from an urban environment as they have so much “empathy”.

Probably a Latino, but could be a female. Liberals are all about race and gender, and it will be done in a way to dare the GOP to fight them.

The wikipedia article on her all of a sudden has her as a political centrist. This is not true...

“Get used to this face...”

NO, PLEASE, NO.

First Ruth Bader Ginsburg, now Sotomayor? This is both cruel and unusual.

Agreed. It is SICKENING how wikipedia changed overnight saying Soto is a centrist. Which is a huge hint she will be the falsemessiah’s choice.

I don't know about the whereabouts, but I can say this with a certain amount of certainty:

His choice is fer sure out of the closet.

Supreme Court Justice Homosexual “Gay” Poofter coming our way.

If he goes all the way, it will be a female black lesbian to hit all of the PC requirements.

I can’t help thinking he will pick a muslim.

I’m so numb from everything he’s done already I probably won’t even blink.

Excellent observation!

I will amend my prediction:

Supreme Court Justice Muslim Islamofacist Homosexual/Lesbian “Gay” Poofter coming our way.

We are so conditioned to one outrage after another that I wonder what the final outrage will be and if anyone will even be paying attention when it happens.

If they are conditioning us with such harsh items already, I shudder to think what will come later.

The Wall Street Journal called her a “liberal”; the Free Congress Foundation, a right-wing think tank active in judicial nomination battles of the 1990s, called her a “judicial activist.” [13]. Rush Limbaugh attacked her on his radio show. [10] A senator put an anonymous hold on her nomination, blocking it for over a year. Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy called the length of the hold “disturbing,” “petty,” and “shameful,” also noting that at that time, “[o]f the 10 judicial nominees whose nominations have been pending the longest before the Senate, eight are women and racial or ethnic minority candidates.”[
