A lawyer for alleged Nazi death camp guard John Demjanjuk said Tuesday that he is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to halt the deportation of the 89-year-old suburban Cleveland resident to Germany, where he faces 29,000 counts of accessory to murder.
John Broadley said he sent the motion from Florida and expects it to be filed with the court Wednesday morning. Demjanjuk's family argues he is too sick and frail to be deported.
Broadley said he will ask for a reprieve of at least 90 days so he can argue that a federal appeals court in Ohio erred last week when it denied Demjanjuk a stay of deportation.

Seems like it was forever ago when he got the first deportation order. Unfortunately for him, his genetics and proper diet have allowed him live to see the court of last resort.

Its a travesty. If he where a minority and robbed a liquor store, shooting the clerk when he was 18 and they caught him at age 89 the local DA would not do anything.
Given his previous trial, false conviction and eventual dismissal of charges against him doesn’t this really ammount to double jeapordy. Not technically but certainly the spirit, rationale and intent of the laws against double jeaprody.
What I find particularly odd is the selective prosecution of Demjanjuk. At worst he was a 20 year old assigned to a concentration camp.
The 40+ year old Nazi judge who voluntarily presided over the “trials” of German resistance members late in WW II in particular the Christina theologian Dietrich Bonhoffer, and who issued a death warrant just a few weeks before the end of the war; was not even prosecuted and was allowed to continue on after the war as if nothing had happened.
What was his name?

I would find Demjanjuk “Not Guilty”, because of one thing.
The main evidence against him came from the KGB. Soviet policy was that any Red Army soldier who was captured by the Nazis was automatically sentenced to death in absentia.
All of the evidence against Demjanjuk came from the KGB. The same KGB that came up with “evidence” that the Nazis were the ones who executed the Polish officers at Katyn.
In an unrelated story, Goerge Soros, famed Nazi collaborator is running the US government. His immigration status is not under review.

Demjanjuk really isn't the issue for Americans. The evidence that he was an SS member is voluminous, which is America's only interest. We prosecuted a few dozen Nazis at Nuremburg, and basicly washed our hands of the slime, other than barring the worst of the worst, the SS and others who served at the death camps from coming to America. It's a big world, we decided we didn't need them. Like the Chinese jihadists, I'd send them to China, despite the fact that they'd be happy to kill communists when infidels aren't available. blackminorca would disagree, consistancy is a funny thing. May they be settled in his/her neighborhood, apologies to his/her neighbors. But the Nazi should go, as our Courts have decided. As blackminorca notes on the thread correctly, liberal bias, the deportation actions beginning under the far leftist RR, picked up later by the Conservative Bubba late in his reign, but pursued by the double liberal from Texas, a well known neocon who shall remain initialless.
What he did at Sobibor is up to the German courts, if they try him. We'll see what their evidence is. He's not an honest man despite admitting to his ss tattoo, but he did admit to being a truck driver at Sobibor when trying to get into Argentina, a really good idea. So we'll see what Germany has.
And if it's nothing, we'll see what Spain has to charge him with for his activities at Flossenberg, where the killed allied agents and Hitler plotters alongside Jews. Probably nothing. But the POS Demanjuk is out of our country.
Which brings us to blackminorca's charges.
If you review the thread you'll find the typical Jewhater charges, Jews kill Christians, Ukranians had reason to hate them, odd if Demjanjuk wasn't an SS member but cover those bases, the usual stuff. You want it here, your choice.
Then there are the accusations that I'm a communist. Unfortunately unsupported by anything. It's not like I don't have thousands of posts here, I offered blackminorca the opportunity to back up the charges but, well, nothing other than I'm a Jew who brings dishonor on Israel. In any case, I again invite blackminorca to back up the accusations. If all blackminorca has is you're a Jew, that's OK.

A final comment to the AM and Ron Jeremy who hopefully will validate my opinion since I didn't bother to go back and read it. Israel did not find him innocent of being at Sobibor. Israel found him not guilty of being Ivan the Terrible.
Israel declined to indict him for being at Sobibor, which is not the same as finding him innocent, as anyone with a moderately decent sense of logic understands.
Even if he was tried for being at Sobibor, which he was not, a not guilty finding is not the same as "innocent". For example, OJ was found not guilty, but as we know he all did it. I am not saying that Demjanjuk "did it". I don't know or don't care. I am simply pointing our your logical flaws, like this one, and the one on another thread where a guy said that he couldn't identify Denjanjuk as being there and your turning that into the false headline of "says he was not there".

It is a logic fallacy whereby you refute an argument by asking irrelevent but “many questions”.
For instance, Blatt who wrote a book claiming Demjanjuk killed 29000 at Sobibor had to admit he never saw him there.
You took that simple fact and asked many and irrelevent questions to try to confuse the debate.
