The CIA's Fight With Obama

Has Barack Obama made an enemy who can sabotage his presidency?

The presidency of George W. Bush began to unravel when some in high positions at the Central Intelligence Agency began waging a covert campaign against him.

It began in the summer of 2003 when officials at the CIA asked the Justice department to open a criminal investigation into who had disclosed to columnist Robert Novak that Valerie Plame, wife of controversial former diplomat Joseph Wilson, worked at the CIA.

The officials knew at the time the Intelligence Identities Protection Act did not apply to Ms. Plame, who'd been out of the field for more than five years.

The CIA is not an hermetically sealed box. Stuff slips out ~ kind of like with an evaporating black hole ~ and among the things that "slip out" are those that already have a non-CIA source that no one outside the CIA had happened to ever look at ~ or put together.

People like Pelosi should be in a panic. The woman's father was a Siciliano Portectore while mayor of Baltimore. Odds are good Nancy was complicit in some of the deals. She can be brought down.

The CIA itself doesn't lean any way at all. About 99.99% of its work involves building up "intelligence" from raw data ~ and that's pretty dry stuff.

It's in the policy formulation areas at the level of the highest directorates that politics, and political leanings, might have bearing, but every President does get his own guys into critical slots anyway.

Thre you go again, believing Leftwingtard propaganda.

The CIA observed, first hand, the rapid drop in the Soviet Union's oil production back in the 1980s and correctly predicted what would happen.

They managed to have that information PUBLISHED in the New York Times although I first read it in SCIENCE magazine where the appropriate factoids were placed by people friendly to the CIA.

One of the first things Boris Yeltsin did was make sure American oil production specialists got a shot at helping repressurize Siberian and Russian oil fields.

Voila, they were repressurized, other fields were opened up with the services of American and Japanese oil engineering firms, and the rest is history.

For several years before the fall of the Soviet Union the fact that the system there was going to fail was WELL KNOWN.

BTW, before you get too far down that road, Joe's stuff wasn't a "record" as you put it but simply ordinary information held in confidence by the courts and tax authorities in Ohio.

He'd done nothing criminal. However, agents of the State of Ohio commited criminal acts against Joe(not his real name).

He will eventually be elected Congress. He will also be awarded millions of dollars in damages by Ohio and federal courts.

The agents who revealed confidential information were ordinary political appointees very typical of the sort Democrats ALWAYS appoint. They wouldn't have made it into the CIA as lightbulb changers.

Thanks for the post. I sure hope Rahm can be brought down at some point as well. He is the epitome of a corrupt politician and all around AH if I ever saw one.

If Congress had wished to declare waterboarding or the other specific techniques used by the CIA to be included within the law criminalizing torture, they could have done so for the past seven years but did not. This is telling, considering Nancy Pelosi was briefed upon these techniques in detail. Like the United Nations' Special Rapporteur on Torture, she is simply another in the long litany of government officials who seem to revel in their own tortuous reasoning, which invariably ends up protecting terrorists. This would be a chapter in which politicians preen moralistically as they throw patriotic officials, who helped keep this country safe, to the wolves, and in which national leaders posture politically while endangering the nation's security. The preening is ridiculous, even by the standards of contemporary American politics and American liberalism. Obama fatuously asserts there are no real choices in the real world, just "false choices" that he can magically resolve. He foolishly suggests that even in war we would never have to do anything disagreeable for the sake of our security.
