AN OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR SCHWARZENEGGER FROM AN UNEMPLOYED CALIFORNIAN
SFGate.com ("City Brights" column) ^ | May 4, 2009 | Goria Nieto: Social Justice Activist Looking for a Job

Posted on 05/05/2009 8:29:33 AM PDT by sinanju

"Dear Governor:

I hope you or someone will take a moment of time to read my letter here about my experiences with EDD. I know you are trying hard to get this economy corrected while also managing the multitude of problems within the state of California: the air we breathe, this flu, the ocean on our coasts, the redwoods, the homelessness, the budget, the prisons. It's a very long list..."

(snip)

"I turned to EDD for unemployment the first weekend after losing my job. Putting those forms online was brilliant. No waiting in lines, getting everything submitted correctly from the homey confines of one's house or library or even the EDD office with help all around really is quite helpful. What happened after that was anything but helpful."

(snip)

"What this all says to me is that there are not enough people working there at EDD to serve the vast numbers of unemployed in California. How would a business that depends on good service survive if they had to only answer their email in three days?"

(snip)

"the EDD offices are so understaffed that if anyone's case falls outside a very small definition of qualifying for unemployment then we are denied what we have paid into and have to do the work to get our unemployment insurance. Again, more staffing and full training, if for only for temporary staffing, up to a year, helps us out here struggling, can you please find a way to help? The flu will pass faster than this recession but the recession will leave more disaster in its wake.

Thank you for listening. I assure you many lives hang in the balance these days. We need you as our advocate now more than ever."

Do you think Gloria realizes that this is the entity she wants to mete out her “social justice” and that this is their idea of social justice? Prolly not.

I have the solution. You go into the Unemployment Office, and they simply hire you on the spot to fill their understaffed clerical ranks.

Bingo! No more unemployment.

Yo, Arnold—I have the solution for you.

This letter reminds me of Germans in the 1930's writing to the Hitler telling him how bad the working conditions were on the Highway Projects. They actually thought their dear fuehrer did not know what was going on and if he actually knew the conditions he would change them.

News Flash, Arnold knows that government doesn't work and is inefficient but continues to grow and expand government anyways! Why? You don't make friends in the Press, the California Legislator and powerful Unions with a small government message.

A few questions:
How much does a social justice activist make?
What is the job description?
What type of company hires a social justice activist?
Is there a degree for that?

I guess that there must be no social injustice since she is unemployed, right?

This letter reeks of “entitlement” and whining.

So far it looks like being a liberal mascot has paid pretty well.

I have a better solution. Vote NO on all the 6 props to prop up the Leg., Guv and their tax and spending profligacy . Let the state then cut all, all silly, wasteful, inane welfare, aid to illegals, all of it. See if 80% of Ca. will hurt. My bet is that the state will do fine if the waste and kow towing to the non producers would end.

Aside from the easy target this "social activist" makes, her points about EDD are spot on.

It is very difficult to get through to an EDD worker; they are hiding out in cyberspace, away from the pitchforks.
