Another comic great has died. Dom DeLuise passed away at a Los Angeles hospital around 6:00 PM Monday, reports TMZ.

A film and TV staple since the mid-1960's, DeLuise was an expert foil for other performers, including Dean Martin, Mel Brooks (in six of his films) and Burt Reynolds, with whom he starred in the "Cannonball Run" flicks. In 1980, he played the lead in "Fatso," a film written and directed by Anne Bancroft, the late wife of Mel Brooks.

A noted gourmand, DeLuise authored two books of his Italian recipes, and wrote several children's books. He voiced numerous characters in animated films and television.

DeLuise is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol Arthur, three sons, Peter, Michael and David, and three grandchildren.

RIP Dom,

I liked his part in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, where he played the character of Marvin Zindler, Eyewitness News.

RIP to a wonderful funny man who(as far as I know) wisely kept his politics to himself and focused on being an entertainer instead. I’ll need to watch “The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes’ Smarter Brother” in his honor.

We’ll miss you Dom. Say hi to Harvey Korman, Madeline Kahn and Marty Feldman and all those wonderful comedians from that era for me.

Dom was a great one, sadly I thought he had passed already. His son is on a Disney show, looks a lot like him.

What was it about him? He acted gay but didn’t annoy me and was funny. What made him different?

Many years ago, probably about 30, we took our children to the circus in Los Angeles. After the lights had dimmed for the start of the show, here came an usher with a flashlight and the whole DeLuise family in tow (Mom, Dad & Kids). They sat right in front of us. It was pretty cool. I’m sorry for his family.

The thing I will always remember about Dom is how out of control he got when laughing. The best were the out takes of CBR where he and Burt would be doing a scene and Dom would just start laughing for no reason. He was a class act.

He authored four or five cook books. I have one of them and it's a great resource.

I enjoyed him in the film “THE END” with Burt Reynolds.

He is a patient in the mental hospital where Reynolds is sent because of his suicidal tendencies.

I am surprised he didn’t pass away sooner as so many of our overweight commeidans have in the past.

There are a lot of funny Canadians.

Perhaps it’s because they don’t have to be tough. America handles that part.

Watching the commercials for "Dean Martin's Celebrity Roasts" has another "Well, that one's dead too" entry.

Amazing how many stars were on those shows.
