Eminem Almost Died of a Methadone Overdose
Javno ^ | May 05, 2009 | Bangshowbiz

Posted on 05/05/2009 7:38:25 AM PDT by SolidWood

He said: "My doctor told me those mysterious new pills were methadone, which is used to wean heroin addicts off dope. Had I known it was methadone, I probably wouldn't have taken it. But as bad as I was back then, I can't even say 100 per cent for sure.

“My doctor told me the amount of methadone I'd taken was equivalent to shooting up four bags of heroin. Even when they told me I almost died, it didn't click."

The 36-year-old hip-hop star admits his substance abuse addiction had spiralled out of control by then.

He added to Vibe magazine: "It's no secret I had a drug problem. If I was to give you a number of Vicodin I would actually take in a day? Anywhere between 10 to 20. Valium, Ambien, the numbers got so high I don't even know what I was taking. I started looking around my house to see if I had a stash box of Vicodin. I'm ransacking my house, finally find something in the basement, in a little napkin, seven and a half Vicodin - the big extra strength ones - and a few Valium."

Hopefully Eminem will double, maybe even triple his drug intake.

Maybe he will do a better job next time now that he has some experience.

Hopefully he will realize how much his life is a tragedy due to his behavior and the state of his soul and turn to God as his strength and salvation.

Just because you may not agree with what Eminem says in his songs doesn't mean you should wish death on him. I won't let my kids listen to his music, but I have heard his songs and he has a talent for what he does. Instead, I pray for him that maybe he will one day decide to use his talent for something good. I will never wish death on anyone though.

Talent? Does he sing or what? He is babbling fast about taking drugs, killing and raping... the usual rap "lyrics".

That is the first heart felt statement that I would expect. Some of these posts sound like Democrat Underground. I thought that we were more tolerant, and instead of wanting the worst for people, we hope that the best would come out instead. I also hope that God will one day reach him.

Hmmm...I wonder if the MSM will start referring to him as "Pill popping rap star, Eminem"? You know...like they do with Rush Limbaugh.

It does not surprise me at all, but all the same makes me wonder in those quiet moments ...a person has money, has fame, has everything that most people would consider blessed ...and then sells his soul to drugs. Goes to show that money cannot fill the emptiness in one's soul. (As oprah once said, and I think it is true, all that money does is amplify the type of person that you really are. If you are a giving generous soul, it enables you to give more. If you are a messed up person within, it enables you to exercise those extremes in an unabated manner. It is simply a magnifying glass)

Eminem almost got killed by his own magnifying glass.

I once saw a documentary on people addicted to meth, and to this day I say meth has to be from the devil! The people used to be so good-looking, but a few years of meth had literally eaten them without and within. Some would even scratch their skin raw trying to dig out 'bugs.' Selling oneself to drugs has to be one of the worst things a person can do.

Glad Eminem survived though ...at least that way there is always a chance (until you are dead and gone there is always a chance, to the last second).

Not that I'm asking you to take a listen. But he has other songs on his albums where he actually talks about things that mean something to him.

Look, I'm not supporting him and sticking up for his lyrics. I am a hip hop fan though and a lot of times people automatically see a hip hop artist and say that they have no talent, they just babble, all they talk about are guns and drugs and it's not like that. There is more than what is on the radio and MTV.

its gotta be some kind of creative talent to string together that many uncouth words and ideas without being overly redundant.
