Palin Joining GOP Rebranding Group
Roll Call ^ | May 4, 2009 | Jackie Kucinich

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), the 2008 vice presidential nominee, will join a new Republican policy group aimed at reshaping and promoting the party brand.

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.)announced Palin’s decision to join the National Council for a New America on Monday night. The group launched late last week and held its first town hall-style forum on Saturday in Virginia.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the 2008 presidential nominee, indicated during a conference call last week that his former running mate had been invited to join the policy panel. The group, which is made up of prominent Republican leaders, plans to hold town hall meetings across the country over the next few months.

Palin’s absence from the group had prompted questions about whether she was snubbing it or being left out.

IF, she actually takes an active part in this group, she’ll suck all the oxygen out of everyone else’s sails. No one really cares about what McCain says, everyone has heard him say it for years and years, same with Romney. Jeb Bush isn’t exactly a new face either, but NO ONE is interested in a third Bush. Cantor is realtively new, but let’s face it, no one knows who the hell he is outside of Virginia, and the beltway. Palin knows that she cannot be seen as just another beltway hack, because most of her appeal is the fact that she is about as far from that crowd, both politically, and geographicly as possible. She is one shrewed operator, and she knows that if she shows up for one of their events they will not have to offer free pizza to attract a tiny crowd, she will attract thousands, and the chants of Sarah! Sarah! will issue from the throats of the crowd, and will send shivers up the spines of the spineless dolts in the group. Unfortunately, Jindal has chosen to throw his lot in with the beltway bandits heart and soul. If you notice Palin said, “this and others,” putting them on notice that she is not putting all her eggs in their extremely weak backet. Although many here may object to her participation, this may be a real chance for her to exert maximum influence on the future direction of the GOP. If SarahPAC is a monumental success, she will cement her influence even further.

This is a difficult situation.

The farmer, as best as I can see, takes the Scripture and its admonitions quite seriously, which is exactly what the Lord God wants.

What the Lord God also wants, however, is some seasoning of grace in dealing it back out. Methinks something essential from the divine spice cabinet is still lacking in the farmer’s recipe. And it has way too much vinegar. Been there, done that, myself. It makes a body rather touchy.

It’s frustrating in this context. We all want a good conservative to succeed and not be pulled down by lesser company or be compromised by wrongdoing. Yet the party mechanism appears necessary to deal with. I could pull out parallels with the earthly life of the Lord, but not now. Sarah will not literally walk on water. We should not expect that. We should expect that Sarah pulls the party discourse upward rather than letting the plebeian mud drag her downward.

I, personally, think she will do the former. Let’s watch.

Or, perhaps, deliver a new breath of her own to said sails.

The RINOs are going to be stunned at the backlash they get if they even show their faces in the sunlight come the next election.

The only way this is going to work is if they fall in line behind an alpha dog.

I think the alpha dog will be a female....

Ditto to your comment. But McCain shut her up for was it two weeks? She’s no idiot. She’s know which side her bread is buttered.

I agree with you Choose. Bristol has a beautiful baby. If the Farmer wants to argue that fact, by all means he can.

If she moves them back to Reaganism, I am all for it... if she allows steele and those old school, east coast, limo ridin’, country club elites to change her... she is not the woman that I think she is. I believe that she may just save these rinos from themselves. I will wait and see.

If you think about it, you might agree that a given individual’s integrity cannot be corrupted merely by association with a group (except in extreme examples and this is not an extreme example).

At this point, Palin’s integrity can only be corrupted if she were to compromise her principles in a significant way.

>>>> Is Newt part of this group? <<<<

From the Washington Times on Friday:

The Democratic National Committee poked at the new group from the side, noting who was in and who was out. In an e-mail, the DNC pointed out that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was not part of the group, nor was Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who was the party’s vice presidential nominee last year.

Mr. McCain told reporters Mrs. Palin was consulted on the project, and Mr. Cantor told Fox News he’d spoken with Mr. Gingrich.

Yeah, this guy has been throwing peanuts at Palin from the start. He’s got an agenda that’s not Conservative, so I say ignore him for the troll he is.

Her moral and biblical lack of depth is deeply disappointing.

You need to STFU and get off this thread. You're doing nothing but embarrassing yourself and whatever cause you're supposedly pushing with your holier-than-thou front-pew attitude.

Bottom line: If she doesn’t join, they’ll attempt to squeeze her out of the process.

If she does join, she’ll lose credibility with her own supporters who realize the GOP is either dead or dying.
