Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney headlined congressional Republicans' big new policy conclave over the weekend, stressing the need to listen to real Americans, but also appearing to slap a potential rival for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.
At the National Council for a New America's first "conversation" in Arlington, Va., Romney, who ran for the Republican nomination last year and has kept his name in the conversation for 2012, joined House Republican Whip Eric Cantor and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush in presiding over the panel.
"Ive learned that when you sit in a position of responsibility as you do now and as we did once, you typically get the best ideas that really make a difference from people that youre serving," Romney said, citing his experience helping pass the Bay State's universal healthcare plan.

Barbour's baggage is his very successful career as a lobbyist. That really doesn't bother me, but lobbyists are less popular than even trial lawyers.
The Boston Globe has NOTHING to do with it.
Myth is the one who forced Hillary/Myth Care on the people of Massachusetts and Myth is the one who bragged about it this weekend.

Barbour has a couple of strikes...he’s a white Southern conservative, running probably against Obama...also, Barbour was a big-time tobacco lobbyist...right now, this is Romney’s turn (via the arcane Republican thought process that has occurred for tooooo long)...magritte
You responded to a post about Sarah. And I didn’t bring up Romney.
You and some of the others are so angry about the situation it is difficult to have a rational discussion with you.
Here’s a long range one for everyone — it’ll be Romney-Gingrich on the ticket in 2012.
Heh heh...
I voted for Mitt on Super Tuesday only because I disliked him less than McCain. After taking the cheap shot yesterday at our beloved Sarah he wont get my vote again.
White, Southern, and Conservative I feel good about. I would not mind lobbyist either. Tobbacco lobbyist is a problem. Too bad it wasn’t lobbying something worth while. I liked his pleasant disposition. and he seemed so knowledgeable, quick thinking, and articulate when he ran the RNC.
You only think he bragged about it because the Boston Globe presented it that way.
Whatever, Myth has been bragging about Hillary-RomneyCare for years.
I’m a big Haley Barbour fan...I would definitely campaign for him here in MO...he is sharp and unflappable...magritte
Yep.
Nice dog.
Palin stands an excellent chance of getting the nomination in 2012 against a bunch of rinos who will split the moderate Republican vote. However, she has been trashed badly by the media, and it will be difficult for her to be a strong candidate in the General (think Quayle).

Whenever I see that picture, I see Mitt as the patsy that doesn’t know that everyone is laughing AT him instead of WITH him.
Meet the GOP’s designated loser for 2012.
