Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney joked about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palins place on Times list of influential people, saying, But was that the issue on the most beautiful people or the most influential people?
In an interview on CNNs State of the Union broadcast Sunday, Romney was responding to a question from the moderator as to whether Times inclusion of Palin and talk show host Rush Limbaugh on their list of The Worlds Most Influential People was a positive or negative thing for the Republican Party.
Romney added, I think there are a lot more influential Republicans than that would suggest.
After his boss caught flak for his apparent dissing of Palin, Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom spun the comment as just a self-deprecating joke as to why there werent more Republicans on the list, according to a report in Politico.
I think there are 100 influential Republicans alone who have tremendous ideas and I hope that we can all work together to accomplish what we believe is best for America, Palin said through a spokeswoman.

STFU Romney the RINO.
Ditto that!!
Rushbo, photogenically, is plug ugly. As if his fans care!
Romney was a total loser as governor of mASSachusetts. He did absolutely nothing to build the party - and barely anything to hold the state together - he laid the ground work for Obama-clone Devalue ‘Cadillac’ Patrick - whose doing an outstanding job in giving what his supporters deserve - a bankrupt state!
Mitt, put on your big-girl panties.
Amazing how all the best radio guys have...well, faces for radio.
Hunter/Demint. No chics for CIC.
Mitt does not use a purse, it is a European man bag. Sheesh. /s
What’s her take on GW and Amensty?
Hahaha, that gets a MEGA DITTOS!!
I, for one, totally agree with you.
When asked to comment about so few Republicans on the “most influential” list, Rommey simply said he wished there were more. He then went on to say that he(Romney)would understand so few Republicans being on a “most beautiful” list because, “...we’re not very cute”.
That’s bashing Palin? Someone over at Newsmax is more hypervigilant than I when it comes to sniffing out criticism of the divine Sarah.
“It wasn’t a dig. I heard the quote.”
I think he was trying to say that she did not belong on the “influential” list, but being on the “beautiful” list was more her style.
It sure sounded like a dig to me.
Asbestos suit on?
So sad ...
Hypervigilant—more like hyper-anti-Romney. They just took HuffingtonPost’s spin on this and ran with it. That’s how unoriginal they are. Everyone buying into this spin is buying into leftwing blogger attepts to sow discord.
Ooooooo, someone doesn’t like my boyfriend.
But was that the issue on the most beautiful people or the most influential people?
That’s the quote I’m referring to.
The jist of the rest of the article is that the GOP swells are trying to ignore Palin, they don't get that it is the GOP rank and file that loves her.
That's more or less the same position I'm in now.
This group seems to be disturbingly out of touch with their base.
You have been at FR long enough to know how Mitt is despised around here and was before Governor Palin was chosen as vice presidential candidate.
