(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Last week Google brought in a herd of goats to mow the grass on its Mountain View, Calif. headquarters rather than using lawnmowers.
The company said that it wanted to take a more "low-carbon" approach with the goats reducing the company's contribution to air and noise pollution. The cost of hiring the 200-some goats is about the same price as mowing, but the goats were "a lot cuter to watch."
PETA responded to a TechCrunch call about the goats saying that though they have no problem with letting goats do what they do, they do have concerns about how they were transported and whether they have enough shelter and water.
Google said that though the goats were not technically employees "each goat is entitled to a free organic lunch."
Turns out another tech company uses goat power to mow its property, Yahoo has also employed goats to graze their grounds .

Peta is professional “offended”s. And worrying about shelter? Goats have lived in pastors for thousands of years without the need of peta bafoons protecting them... God i wish Peta would go away.
Lets party like it’s 1886!!
I’m not sure from the wording of this article that PETA is so guilty in this particular case. Sounds like they said they don’t object to goats being used as lawnmowers as long as they’re treated well during the transportation and otherwise.
Funny Ping:)
Nice try but I believe that methane produced by animals produces more green house gasses than cars (I mean that seriously).
Relative of mine has couple to help keep the weeds down on the farm. They roam free and get into all kinds of mischief.
Co2 and CH4(methane), so, go goat go, the more these dweebs do this the more awareness they bring to the fools game they play.
This article reminds me of some of the Flinstones clips, with the Flinstones using all sort of animals for tasks that are use machines in the modern day (remember the baby elephant vacuum cleaner, wood pecker can opener, etc...)?
What about the lawn treatments! Those poor goats might be exposed to toxic hazards as a greedy corporation tries to abuse their rights as animals and keep them as slaves to serve their corporate masters!
Wow, that stuff’s real easy to write.
Goats are used here in the Pac. NW to eat thorns and blackberry vines. The stickers do not bother them, it seems.
They will add some methane to the atmosphere though.
If the grass looks decent, might be worth it though....mowing sucks.
I think I need a goat.
No lawnmowing, gallon of milk a day, drying the little turdies to get great fertilizer and bug the neighbors who are big greenies and feed stray cats (along with rabid raccoons, mange infested squirrels, skunks etc with the bowls of cat food).
I’ll put the goat on their side of the house.
Not to be a contrarion but those goats are alive and farting as we speak so be it at google or not, its still emitting C02 either way.
“Goats are used here in the Pac. NW to eat thorns and blackberry vines.”
The go nuts for blackberry leaves.
Make that CH4, methane, not CO2.
Which, as it turns out, helps in the formation of ozone...
Lets be nice to the animals.
