Jeb Bush, GOP: Time to leave Reagan behind Party leaders go on 'listening tour' with eyes on future By Joseph Curl (Contact) | Sunday, May 3, 2009
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Saturday that it's time for the Republican Party to give up its "nostalgia" for the heyday of the Reagan era and look forward, even if it means stealing the winning strategy deployed by Democrats in the 2008 election.

Sorry JEB but time to let you and your family GO ! ! ! ! !
This would be hysterical if it weren’t so sad. Steal the Rats’ approach? The problem is decidedly asymmetrical. No, we need someone of sufficient gravitas to serve as the next Reagan to Obama’s Carter. I’m rootin’ for the Saracuda, who didn’t even deign to answer these GOP “re-branders.”
Answer:
"A political party cannot be all things to all people.
It must represent certain fundamental beliefs
which must not be compromised to political expediency
or simply to swell its numbers."
-- President Ronald Reagan
"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldnt make any sense at all.""
-- President Ronald Reagan
I am willing to adopt one Democrat strategy and go out and by a “Buck Fush” bumper sticker.
I’d vote for Donald or Daffy (Duck) over any member of the Bush family at this point.
It would draw people to our side if we had someone on our side who actually talked about and implemented conservative ideas. How can it be a winner if the Republicans don't practice it and act like Dems? We all know what happens with that "strategery"--you p!ss off people on both sides.
First, Rats can well outdo them in the unicorn and fairy dust category any day of the week, with one paw tied behind their back.
Second, do they realize that in 2008, 40% of potential voters stayed home? McCain was underwhelming, he did not deliver any direct punches to Obama's many flim-flams.
DITTO!!
Purge the RINO's
Just pathetic... Seems that most of the Republican party is blind to reality. Oh well, they (the GOP) will be gone soon and either another party will prevail or a revolt will result. It’s really ashamed that the GOP is so blind to reality.
The name of Bush is the kiss of death now.
McCain threw the election. All he had to do was mouth four simple words (”I oppose the bailout”) and he’d be president today. He oculd have changed his mind later and he isn’t stupid enough not to know this. Soros or somebody or something got to him; we’re living in a 1.5 party system.
I think the Saracuda will end up saving them, in spite of themselves. And if we are fortunate we will end up with another 12-16 years of reasonably conservative presidents starting in 2013 (Sarah, then her veep).
Maybe at his age he was too Bushed. (Pun intended)
I’ve said it before - the Bush family would have been nothing but for Reagan. The father was a ticket puncher with the support of a few country club bluebloods; he was not associated with a single big idea and had no vision for the country whatever. The son was a lamebrained prep school type whose “success” in business was orchestrated by his father’s friends and whosse primary accomplishment after eight years was giving us extra trillions in debt, a tragic war in a country (Iraq) of little threat to the US, and a socialist President bent on bankrupting the country and its citizens. For once I agree with something Jesse Jackson, of all people, said: Stay out of the Bushes.
Heh... I hope you’re right! Actually, the long run looks very good for our Palin... The more the MSM picks on her, the more famous she becomes... She is simply a good person.
Yes, the American fury was kindled there. Congress’ phones were ringing off the hook. It had nowhere to go with both candidates flying in their face.
Not likely with the changing demographics of this country. Once amnesty legislation is passed by the democrats, this country will become even more socialist.
Jeb who? Bush? I don’t recognize that name.
Ooooh, you mean Bush like that guy that was only President because he was riding on that old guy named Reagan’s coattails.
Hmm, so that Bush fella that was made famous/President by that creepy old guy Reagan must have had a son. How nice. Oh and you mean he even got to be Governor of Florida too!! Just because he had a name like his dad, the other Bush who rode on that creepy old guy Reagan’s coatails! Man, he is one lucky guy!
Too bad he’s an idiot.
Well, if that happens, it will not matter which party is elected - will it? If your pessimistic outlook occurs, we can kiss America goodbye... Not a grand outlook...
