Jeb Bush, GOP: Time to leave Reagan behind Party leaders go on 'listening tour' with eyes on future By Joseph Curl (Contact) | Sunday, May 3, 2009
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Saturday that it's time for the Republican Party to give up its "nostalgia" for the heyday of the Reagan era and look forward, even if it means stealing the winning strategy deployed by Democrats in the 2008 election.

We’re talking about a rather large non voting wild card still. The amnesty as currently discussed means simply to put the illegal Mexicans at the rear of the queue for citizenship at the time of amnesty (not at the time of their entry). That will make one whopper of a queue, and nothing would happen in time to derail Sarah’s initial entry.
Can someone (wait, give me till this afternoon and that someone will be me, but will someone JOIN me) in emailing this quote to every Rep in Congress?
I mean nothing more, no long fussy email, this quote will get lost in that. JUST THIS QUOTE. It will stand out to someone.
Maybe?
Hopey Changey rhetoric won’t work on us because if you compare majority wise WE ARE MORE INFORMED THAN THEN. All you have to tell a hopey changey is that the girls will love them in their new car and off the lot they ride. But for a car salesman to sell people like us a car, we read the fine print.
See the difference? We don’t need Hopey Changey. We need someone to stand up and say “THIS IS WHAT I BELIEVE AND IT’S NOT WRONG”. That is the comparitive equivalent to Hopey Changey on the right.
First we had "compassionate conservatism" (more spending), "campaign finance reform" (criticize an incumbant and go to jail), and "stimulus" (we're all Keynesians now, again).
Now we get "listening tour" (don't stand for anything or the New York Times will write an unfavorable piece) and "nostalgia" (opposing the tidal wave of socialism with free market ideas is tired old thinking).
Jeb Bush, GOP: Time to leave Reagan behind
What a maroon. We left Regan behind the day the first George Bush took office and have not looked back since.
Its time that America found another Regan,if we want this nation to survive, prosper and be the America it should be and can be again.
Jeb did a good job as Florida Gov. He kept spending under control and initiated zero new big govt. intrusions.
However socially he is a RINO turd.
I wish the Bush’s, Clintons, Kennedy’s and all other family politicians would just go away.
The Democrat strategy was all in the marketing. Marketing and the MONEY to carry it out. The Democrats realized that while truth in labeling might apply to a can of peas, when it comes to politics all bets are off. Think about it. How many times during the 2008 campaign did you hear the term “Brand” applied to a the the political parties?
Undemine brand X, while selling Brand Y as new and improved, green, centrist, good for you, less fattening. In that way, you could even sell a Kenyan-Marxist street agitator with radical ties as some kind of centrist moderate uniter and hope for the world.
That was the absolute brilliance of the Democrats strategy in 2008.
The left is good at this however as it comes naturally. Im not so sure the GOP can pull it off.
The Bush clan has given us the Clintons and the Obamas
Nobody has ever really said that Sarah can win Iowa and New Hampshire. Those two states are so dangerous that I would not put any guantees on anybody. Remember that everyone was for sure thinking that a conservative would win Iowa and that did not happen. I would love for someone to explain our winning approach of getting Sarah the nomination. We have to have some sort of plan I hope. I would tell he to visit Iowa soon. Maybe that is a start.
I would hope enough Iowans are upset by this gay marriage thing popping up in their midst, to get off their duffs and vote.
Oh well, I guess we should leave Washington, Jefferson, and all those other really old guys behind too!
Since Reagan the best reason to vote Republican has been to keep the Democrat out, but the Republican himself was always a bigger government, higher tax gagger.
I once thought that Jeb Bush was the best of the Bush family, politically speaking. I have now changed my mind. He should evacuate with the rest of the family to their fortress in South America.
The difference is, Reagan was not hell bent on driving the “moderates” out of the GOP.
He was smart enough to know that you need numbers to govern.
The Bush clan saved you from Dukakis, Gore and Kerry.

My, My, aren’t we full of bluster this morning.

All right Newt! Time to step up to the plate and knock these bozos out of the park.
WE DON’T WANT ANY MORE OF THIS CRAP! With all due respect Mr. Bush, this is the sort of thing that keeps the left (on both sides of the aisle) in power.
