Not on the list: U.S. News -- all electronic except for a few "guides" (e.g. best collages) and Newsweek -- reportedly losing about $50 million per year with falling circulation and dropping ad revenue kept alive only by the Washington Post parent company.

I'm sure there are many others not found on the list.

Amazing amount of drivel being printed. Much of this crap was sent without asking, with "if you do not actively cancel" they start sending collection notices.

Observe that most were "women's" magazines...........good riddance............

No Rolling Stone, the progressive, Time, Newsweek etc? I liked Blender.

Yeah, the remaining magazines are just ‘more fortunate’ than the ones that went under — it has absolutely nothing to do with their content or management.

The ‘more fortunate’ magazines need to ‘belly up’ and ‘get with the program’, and ‘pay their fair share’ to support the victims of the evil Bush administration/heartless Republicans/trickle-down economics/racistsexisthomophobes/Wall Street/greedy executives/capitalists.

Women’s magazines?

See, MORE PROOF women and minorities are always the first to suffer in an economic downturn!

Poor Obama, now the boy will be running magazine publications too.

Oprah will be appointed Magazine Czar.

I was under the impression that Blender had done a fairly good job of stealing Rolling Stone and SPIN’s thunder?

Both of the aforementioned having long ago descended into celebrity bootlicking (never mind the politics).

I don’t see any of my car-porn or gun-porn magazines in there.

SPIN was never RS, but was the quasi RS. Meaning do exactly as RS, but and steal from their subscribers at a cheaper rate. Blender on the other hand, was like Maxim/Stuff mag compared to RS’s Playboy status.I just got sick and tired of seeing their Bush-bash covers at the 7-11.

The Barney Frank/Pelosi/Obama Depression kills off a lot of democrat and womens crap magazines, plus a few good ones.

The end of “Oprah” is pure poetic justice, though. Time and Newsweek SO VERY MUCH need to be history, however. Seriously, who ever reads these democrat propaganda rags?

"who ever reads these democrat propaganda rags?"

I suspect they just look at the pictures. It's probably the best they can do; public education and all.

I stopped reading RS in ‘93. It wasn’t me getting older, I think the all-out propaganda offensive Jan Wenner went on after Clinton’s coronation might have had something to do with it. I did look at it regularly to see what starlet or supermodel would be showing her booty on the front cover however.

I recall reading SPIN semi-regularly in the late nineties. I still have the 01’ issue where the then barely-legal Jessica Biel decided to declare her independence and get fired from 7th Heaven by posing naughty. Do you think I could get a good price for it on eBay?

Publishing for democrat brain damaged libtards is not much of a business plan.

I must be getting old myself because I still remembered that since grade school LOL! For J Biel hard core fans, why not? Sell it, and set the bid at a reasonable price.

<womens crap magazines

Just because you don’t care for them, doesn’t mean that other people don’t enjoy them. I liked reading ‘Cottage Living’ and subscribed to ‘Domino’ when it first started.

I do a lot of scholarly reading as a professor, I frequent political and other sites of interest, and consider myself something of an intellectual and generally well-read. Every now and then, however, I like to sit down with a cup of tea and look at the pictures in a “womens crap magazine” or try a new recipe featured therein. Shoot me.

Realms of Fantasy also died...Its last issue was released a few months ago. But it was luckier that most : It found a rescuer-Tir Na Nog publications who plans to restart publication in July 2009 (we'll see).

What pisses me off is, I had all the issues till 02/09 and 04/09 (it was a bimonthly). When the cancellation was announced, my local book seller just quit carrying it. My last issue is dated 12/08, and I've had no luck finding the last two issues on ebay. :-(
