This week GOP leaders in Congress, including Texas' Sen. John Cornyn, launched a rebuilding effort this week, called the National Council for a New America. It's supposed be a grassroots conversation with citizens, including non-Republicans. Texas' senior Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison joined the effort Friday. "We as Republicans need to show the nation that we have better alternatives to Democratic proposals, and that we understand the very real challenges families are facing during these tough economic times," Hutchison said in a statement. Her joining also reaffirms her GOP credentials.

don’t fault them for trying to get something going. We need a lot of movement - partial conservative or full conservative.
Remember the story of horses facing danger circle up facing inward and kick out at the wolves.
Jackasses when faced with danger, circle up facing the enemy and kick each other.
which are we to be??
This isn’t a movement. It’s a bunch of rich people patting themselves on the back.
When someone asks me what party I am with I just say I’m a Conservative. The Republican party is a joke, and it looks like they won’t be cleaning up their act anytime soon so I am basically without a party. If a new party is created let me know and I will sign up
You said in seven words what this conclave is all about.
This is precisely what they're doing....it's a preemptive move, no doubt about it.
Now, where's the conservative legislators who should be doing the same thing?
I'm already sorry I axed the question.

Who are these Idiots to make these decisions that effect out lives? We have a Democrat running the GOP and these liberals are trying to dictate policy! Amazing just Amazing

I just got one of their mailings asking for money. I just trashed it. Maybe I should have written a note instead of a check and sent it back. My thought then was, “nobody would read it anyway.”
No Governerhip for her.
LMAO that picture would be funny if it was not true.
This is grassroots. No astroturf allowed.
This is starting to remind me of “New Coke.”
I’ve come to this conclusion, too. I was appalled when conservatives were bailing on the GOP last year as it was not the time, given that we were in an electoral battle against a marxist. But there’s nothing else to lose. Now is the time.
Huthinson, when you look up the word RINO in the dictionary, there is NO definition, just her Picture!
Hutchison AND Cornyn!!??? What a laugh!!
Sounds like we shouldn’t expect any significant changes in the GOP, then. If RINOS are “rebranding” the GOP, it’ll be the same song second verse.
Good ridence to another socialist!!!
All the usual suspects (RINO).
Isn’t she stepping down in October or November, which will necessitate a special election in the spring of 2010 which could be won by the Democrat John Sharp.
It’s Hutchison, but Hutchinson of AR wasn’t so reliable either. So he lost to the second Pryor.
