Democrats See Opportunity as Acceptance of Gay Marriage Grows

Gay marriage legalization in several states and the public's growing acceptance of same-sex unions have Democrats sensing political opportunity and some Republicans re-evaluating their party's hard-line opposition to an issue that long has rallied its base.

In recent weeks, Vermont and Iowa have legalized same-sex marriage, while New York, Maine and New Hampshire have taken steps in that direction. Polls show younger Americans are far are more tolerant on the issue than are older generations. For now at least, the public is much more focused on the troubled economy and two wars than on social issues.

In what bizarro world are the Dhimicrats living in? Aren't the majority of Americans opposed to same sex marriages?

A couple of pedophile judges do a good deed for their gay friends (in case they should need them down the road) and the Leftwingtards view that as a groundswell of public opinion.

It’s true that this culture is changing rapidly.

People who believe that marriage can only possibly be b/w one man and one woman (like me) will soon be compared to those who advocated for slavery.

This is why there is such a push to get homosexuality acceptance into schools. And I don’t believe the issue is really marriage, but total acceptance. If that happens, what will they have to complain about? I think we will lose this battle. Who wants to go through what Miss California has endured? Sad to think that a group consisting of approximately 3% of the nation could turn things upside down.

What just happened in CALIFORNIA for Heaven's sake?

Gay marriage is certainly not my most important issue, but I would hate it it the GOP did anything to infuriate our base.

There is strong opposition to Gay Marriage all across the country.

More to the point: it really does not HURT any of our candidates, politically, to OPPOSE Gay Marriage!

Demonrats have ALWAYS seen opportunity for homosexual pseudo marriage. Nothing new there. The REAL problem is RINO’s who think they see it, who want to join the demonrats in promoting the issue.

It is in truth a LOSING position, and even though Bush's election in ‘04, and all the states that banned such nonsense since also did, these Rino’s want to join the losing position. When they stop pandering and start representing the good people of the US, they will win again.

This is such veneer reporting. It isn’t like the entire populations of every state they mention now are for it. Iowa’s Supreme Court said it was legal - not the people. What a propaganda job.

Yes, the left are increasingly wresting control of the language. Carrie Prejean's comment about marriage being between a man and a woman was described by the media as "a bombshell." Unbelievable!

They’ve got the courts and they’re successfully indoctrinating the youth. We’re just going to have to view this as something like divorce and abortion, i.e., activities that are immoral but legal, unfortunately.

I think so. Back when I was tormenting Matt Lauer on a weekly basis, I suggested that TODAY put a gay couple in their annual "TODAY Throws a Wedding" bit, and see how the nation responded.

Marriage in essence is between a man and a woman. Two men or two women cannot be married. This is an attempt to redefine marriage. “Gay marriage” is counterfeit marriage. No law will ever change that reality.

You mean by bullying it through the courts and the state legislatures by sheer brute force.

AT what point do we realize that our government media is essentially Satanic in its character?

Sadly, I think that we are gonna lose the homosexual marriage deal. I am TOTALLY against it, & will fight it to the end, but the courts & media are stacked against us.

Then there is the relentless hammering of militant homosexuals to legalize anything “gay.” They have nothing better to do.

It is a sad commentary on our society when marriage is treated like this. Again, we need to fight it to the death, but in time, these nuts will win. Methinks that the SC will someday “find” a right for homosexuals to marry in the Constitution. I'm so tired of this. Our Constitution is rapidly becoming a scrap of paper where liberals can find anything. Wanna find a right for chicken's & tick's rights? Must be in the Constitution somewhere. We've been done in by the liberal “interpretation” or trashing of our beloved document & with continued use of finding a right for anything & everything in the Constitution, we end up devaluing it. Heaven help us...& I for one am gonna go down swinging on this homosexual marriage thing!

People need to get out of their pill-popping, hazy, everything is grey, there are no absolutes, blame the other guy comas and see what the hell is going on and do something about it. Personally, I will continue to donate money directly to candidates I deem worthy.

Otherwise, the time for either a. forming a new country (secession) or b. a mass exodus out of here and going to ___ to live has arrived.
