What really cheers me up is that Obama did not get his usual post-Press Conference bump.

People may be wising up.

It is very rare for the same Party to hold the White house for more than 8 years.

A better candidate might have been able to beat McCain.

However, there is a segment of the voting population that is very fickle, and goes back and forth, and tends to vote against the Party in the White House at the time.

The best strategy will not always work.

However, the best strategy is to fight hard, for conservatives, in the Republican Primary, and then fight hard against liberal Democrats, in the General election cycle.

That strategy is the ONLY way to actually change policy in this country.

It also means that Democrats, in Republican areas, will not want to be associated with Obama.

There is no payoff.

Also, do not forget, McCain was LEADING in the polls -—

Until he “suspended his campaign” and then voted FOR the first bail out!

Obama was in the Senate for 2 years before he became President.

Obama made many of the same dumb votes that McCain made.

We need to run a Gov. next time, and then our guy/Gal won't have to suffer because of any loyality to W.

My daughter's best friend (and her best friend's mother) campaigned hard & long for The One. Finally old enough to vote, she became politically aware for the first time in her life. She took every opportunity to engage me, to show me the error of my ways. I've kept my mouth shut & my opinions to myself, knowing it would only be a matter of time before reality would smack her upside the head.

When she loudly complained about being passed over for an award at Alverno in favor of some girl who had poorer grades but higher ‘victim’ class status, I just tried to quell my grin & kept quiet. She found socialism less appealing when she wasn't the recipient of the benefits.

She railed against the ‘protected class’ when she found she was no longer a member. I told her come tax time she will swing over to the dark side.

Agreed. As well, anyone who is comfortable serving more than a term in the Senate is likely temperamentally unsuited for the executive role of the presidency anyway.

Ever get defensive, and DEFEND your choice, YOUR decision, to a snickering friend, relative or co-worker, even AFTER you knew that you screwed up?

Yep, it's called "cognitive dissonance." I agree also that a large measure of Obama's atrocities are yet to be felt by the masses. As memories of the hated Bush recede into the mist, there will be more and more accountability stacked at Obama's door. When that begins to bite, he will take off the nice guy mask and even the sleepy America will see his steel fascist teeth.

Reagan often used the “welfare queen” example.

I know from experience that MANY Union Democrats hate supporting dead beats.

I honestly believe that we can also fight “health care reform” the same way:

“This guy thinks a “balanced diet” means he has to drink LIGHT BEER with his two frozen pizzas, he is 150 lbs overweight, he smokes cigarettes, he drinks every day, he uses illegal drugs, he gets into bar fights, he drives without his seat belt -—

He chose NOT to buy group health insurance through his employers health plan -—

Should YOUR tax dollars pay for HIS health care expenses?

Or
This woman is a street hooker and crack addict. She has been arrested 12 times for prostitution, shop lifting and various drug charges.
She is on food stamps, because she does not report her earnings from prostitution.
Should YOUR tax dollars pay for HER health care?

The Presidential Approval Index is a silly number dreamed up by Rasmussen as a publicity device. It tells us nothing. Obama’s approval remains at about 54-55%, within (or very close to) the margin of error of where it has always been.

The decline in “Strongly Approve” is probably due to Marxist America Haters who think Comrade Obama should be taking us faster into the slavery of Appeasement and Marxism. The growth in “Strongly Disapprove” is probably due to people who, in their hearts, always knew Obama was a Marxist America Hater but hoped they were wrong (now they are seeing that they were right to be afraid).

But their is no real change in support for Obama.

How many American voters know about about the facist thuggery used by the Obama Administration in the Chrysler matter? Very few (and many of those who know are union members for whom the thuggery was undertaken in the first place), and the MSM is not going to help change that. How many voters (especially African Americans and Hispanic Americans, but not just them) who pay no income taxes will ever have a negative view of Obama as long as he increases their handouts from the American government? Not so many.

America’s wonderful combination of democracy and free education is not working too well right now. Maybe the ship will right itself with our help. I hope so, but my optimism is being sorely tested.

Wonderful, heartfelt story my friend.
Thank you for sharing.
In a way it validates what I --& a few others-- believe and have been saying since the halfrican usurper arrived on the scene.

"I told her come tax time she will swing over to the dark side."

HA!!
Why you wordsmith, you. :^)

Look I'll tell you what, just so I don't take anything for granted I'll urge you to make it a point to be around when this youngster does indeed have to pony-up to pay her share of the tax burden; though, I'd guess you had this in mind, anyway.

Nor do I need to tell you to be gentle, either. You're a big teddy bear, the *perfect* person to enlighten a developing youngster on matters of ideology, politics etc.

Not a'tall like I. ;^)

Why? Because it measures intensity?

I don't think that's all that relevant. After all, elections are affected by---but not dependent on---the intensity of the sides. But the actual deciding voters are usually not that excited about either candidate. So I think the traditional approve/disapprove is the more valuable number.
