I think the media hype about it was indeed massive silliness. MRSA has been around a long time. The media took notice of it and ran with it for a short time and suddenly everyone is worried about it.

Since you seem to have this future mutation figured out, why don’t you educate us all on how ‘bad’ it’s going to be?
Assuming it does mutate, why would it be any more dangerous than a human flu virus that mutates? What evolutionary pressure(s) would cause this particular virus to become more dangerous?

As for those who still foolishly believe that we have "modern miracle medications" unlike in 1918..Then they should ask themselves "why couldn't we save that little boy" and the others?

You need to read up on the facts regarding what is in this flu and what isn’t. You also need to know that the 3-4 swine flu genetic markers are from widely dispersed geographic areas. This isn’t just a ‘normal’ flu. It is also mixed with No. American AVIAN flu, and H1N1 (same sub-type flu virus as the Spanish Flu btw).
There are some excellent links on some of the various articles in the breaking news articles that can help you understand why this is different.

All of that stuff was in the very early days of the development in 1918. Meanwhile since then we have MRIs, much better methods of mass producing medicines, much better medicines (our over the counter stuff is better than a lot of the prescription stuff that was available in 1918).
It’s the rubberband of technology. Things progress faster technology grows.
Does anyone remember the big news story prior to 9/11? It was “shark attacks”. Every day you turned on the news, there was another story about shark attacks...of course they stopped when 9/11 happened, and I remember reading that 2001 was actually below average in the number of shark attacks....the media prints what it wants, news or not. That is the death knell of the MSM—there are so many alternatives now that thinking folks can get their news from several sources and dissect them for the truth, and discuss them with other folks (like on here) to see if there is some angle they hadn’t thought of.
