MEXICO CITY/GENEVA, April 30 (Reuters) - Mexico's president told citizens to stay home from Friday for a five-day partial shutdown of the economy, after the World Health Organisation raised its alert level and said a swine flu pandemic was imminent.
In his first televised address since the crisis erupted last week, President Felipe Calderon told Mexicans to stay home with their families. The country will suspend non-essential work and services, including some government ministries, from May 1-5.
"There is no safer place than your own home to avoid being infected with the flu virus," Calderon said.

I'm not of the mind that Obama engineered & distributed this disease (though I can see why it makes many go Hmmmm), but we do know one thing for certain, as we have heard both Rammin Manuel and Cankles declare that catastrophes are for exploiting, so why would anyone expect less?

Yes, it was, and I know it still happens. Because of my experiences my husband and I decided that we would NEVER put our children in daycare. [Probably one of the reasons we decided to homeschool as well.]
Honestly, where there is a will there IS a way — even at the times when both my husband and I were working full-time, one of us was ALWAYS at home with the kids. It wasn’t easy and as soon as I got home from work, he left for work, but it was worth it to us.
I know not all parents who use daycare are like this. Some of the parents in our school were by all appearances VERY good parents. Incidentally, it was those same parents who seemed “good” that would keep their kids home when they had a day off, vs. bringing the kid to school ANYWAY so they would have the day to themselves...
Very sad indeed. Oh, one more thing... In defense of that mother I described who was confronted by her 3-year-old. She didn’t quit her job, but I did notice that she made a much bigger effort to take advantage of time off to pick him up early, bring him in late, or keep him home on HER days off, etc... It was heartbreaking, and both her and I had to keep from crying when it happened, but at least her child was able to voice his anger and frustration... Most of “my” other kids weren’t.
I still pray for all those kids, everyday in my prayers...

That gives us a 2-10% mortality rate. It seems, however, that the "one billion people" number is a guestimate of how many were "affected". The numbers posted earlier were only those sick enough to require hospitalization. Not really apples to apples so difficult to draw a conclusion.
Plausible but I think it’s just short of that.

He may well have been convinced that he’s the key person to help usher in the satanic trinity . . . and that he’ll be richly rewarded for paving the way on top of countless dead bodies and volumes of blood.
I still think he may be set-up . . . for a very devastating fall . . . toward fomenting more chaos, class war, civil war, etc.
The US infections are later in time than the Mexican infections. If anything the lower mortality in the US would indicate the virus was mutating to a weaker form.

Don’t know if I mentioned this in my posts about our experience with our flu, and going to the doctor, but thought this was important for some reason to share...
When I went to the Emergent Care/Walk-in Clinic (on April 8th) connected with my doctor and our local Hospital I sat down at the desk to check in, and from the moment I walked in I was covering my mouth and nose as I REALLY didn’t want ANYONE to feel the way I felt that day (like someone was trying to rip out my lungs everytime I even TRIED to cough a LITTLE)... And, there was an elderly woman who had come into the clinic just before me as well...
Anyway, I asked the receptionist for one of the surgical masks because “I don’t want to get anyone else sick”. She literally said to me, “Oh don’t worry we’re all exposed to all sorts of stuff everyday”. I INSISTED on a mask, and although I felt rather dumb wearing it, at least I knew none of the little kids or older folks there were being exposed to my infection. Remember, I came in with a NASTY Bronchial Infection, and I COULDN’T cough due to the pain it caused... It was on this day that the doctor mentioned that there was a “late-season flu going around” in our area, but they weren’t worried about it, just that a lot of people were coming in with the flu that week...
About a week later (around April 15th) was when we brought my daughter into the walk-in clinic for a strep test. Since she had a sore throat they IMMEDIATELY gave her a children’s surgical mask (Disney licensed and everything! LOL). I found that rather odd, but with possible Strep Throat it made sense.
I also noted that the doctor who came in to see my daughter, and who knew our whole family had been sick apologized, but did NOT shake hands with us to introduce himself explaining the fact that our whole house had been sick. I mean it’s common sense that he wouldn’t shake our hands, but I’ve never had a doctor do that before, even when coming in with really serious symptoms (like when I came in with my infection, or when my husband had bacterial pneumonia years ago...).
I think I mentioned this above, but when my husband and daughter went to the DMV today there was a prominent sign, and a stack of masks stating that anyone coughing needed to wear a mask in the building. Never seen that before...
Just so many weird coincidences, and I know I’m one who is more ‘alert’ when it comes to those things. And, my intuition, or nagging feelings about many things usually end up meaning something when they finally make sense... I truly believe that if more people listened to their “gut” they would notice more of these things too. For me, it reinforces my belief in God. Many new-agers would refer to this as “paying attention to the Universe”. But, regardless, as long as one doesn’t panic, or react irrationally to these ‘coincidences’ I think it’s a good idea to pay attention to them.
Again, don’t know why I felt this was important to post, but as I said — I pay attention to those “prompts” as I think it’s God trying to tell me something — or someone may read the post and it will mean something to them... And, as you already know — I’m past the point where I worry what others will say when I speak about my faith now... ESPECIALLY in times like this...

I don’t know how useful the masks are. However, they ought to at least slow it down a little.
They sure helped in the Mt St Helens ash fallout in Spokane.
EXCELLENT point, Quix. I railed against WHO’s “statistics” a bit ago, I should know better than to accept their pronouncement on containment being futile! :)
