Gay victims of violence would gain new federal protections under a revived and expanded hate crimes bill passed by the House. Conservatives strongly objected but lacked the votes to stop the legislation.
The bill could provide a financial bonanza to state and local authorities, with federal grants to help pay for prosecution of hate crimes. The federal government could step in and prosecute if states requested it or declined to exercise their authority.
A weaker bill died two years ago under a veto threat from President George W. Bush. But President Barack Obama urged support before the vote.
Democratic Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts has introduced the Senate's version of the legislation.
The House bill added protections based on sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and disability.

Quite a few pastors are saying they can now be arrested just for speaking out against the vile homosexual lifestyle choice. We are living in truly sick times when the homosexual militants have succeeded in literally outlawing morality and basic decency.

I wonder how long it will be before Christian pastors actually end up in court. Unfortunately, I would bet there are gay activists out there who have already picked their targets.

When you take into account things like “gerbiling”, “fisting”, “golden showers”, fudge-packing, and the other sick, twisted behaviors that constitute homosexual sex, it sounds more like a lifestyle of torture and humiliation.
Maybe we should let the Guantanamo detainees loose in the gay bars of San Fran Sicko. They’ll be begging for the days of waterboarding.

This bill is unconstitutional - all you have to do is file an injuction against it and let SCOTUS rule on this.

It allows many to reach around the current rules the buttress our society...

It will indeed get to SCOTUS if it passes. We still have hope.
I am not advocating criminal activity against any person, homosexual or otherwise. But I think assault should be assault, not accentuated by the moral or political mindset of the assaulter.

Just follow what has happened in Canada, when the same kind of law was passed.

Are you saying GWB threatened to veto the bill 2 years ago because it wasn’t strong enough?
Just exactly what do you mean?

But I think assault should be assault, not accentuated by the moral or political mindset of the assaulter. The goal of this is to politicize crime. From there it is a short step to create "thought crimes" that are solely political.

The priests/pastors need to stage an open and continuous MLK like passive resistance attack on this legislation. Challenge it not by sitting in diners and on buses but by lecturing every Sunday and at every service, in part or in total, about and against the sin of this disease. They need to put themselves up collectively, to be persecuted and prosecuted. Make it so large the MSM cannot ignore it. See if the government is willing to arrest and jail thousands if not tens and hundreds of thousands of priests/pastors in every city of every state.
I don't hold out hope it will happen but it is the only way to send a meaningful message to our representatives who since the passage of the stimulus/porkulus bill, have collectively given their constituents the finger.

so... if i want to avoid the verbal, stereotypical and financial attacks... i would want to change from my current status of employed white male to unemployed black homosexual undocumented male citizen.
check
would that allow me to avoid giving tax money to fuel the good ship 0bama? how about just paying for 3 of the last 5+ years?
also, does this mean i want to wear the pink shirt with the black face as a sign of solidarity with ‘da man’, or the dirty field shirt?

There's a big difference in adding penalties for incorrect thought while committing a crime of violence, and "incorrect" thought being merely expressed as free speech.
Racial discrimination has been outlawed for at least forty years, and hate crime penalties (as much as I despise them) have been assessed in many jurisdictions. Yet, I don't know of anyone who has been arrested or convicted for making a racial joke, or advocating racial separation.
