An office of privilege is very simple. That's exactly what titles of nobility are granted for. Our Constitution states: "No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States"

That means that you can't get a special exemption from following the normal dictates of law, or expect a special process to be followed on account of your special "title", whether it's Duke, Lord, Prince or cross-dresser.

Lots of folks think it just has to do with the trappings of a "class system" but it's really about "privilege" as well understood at the time the Constitution was drafted.

Should be a trivial matter to dispose of these laws granting privilege ~ just take the members who pass them out into the streets and lead them to the guillotine!

As Jefferson said, the tree of liberty must, from time to time, be watered with the blood of tyrants.

Right, I’m aware of it in the nobility context, but I fail to see how that could be transformed into an attack on this, even assuming your broad definition for sake of argument. For example, the sexual orientation section label doesn’t only apply to homosexuals, but to all orientations, including straight.

Again, I oppose this bill for other reasons, but I don’t find your particular argument convincing.

TJ also said that tree is watered by the blood of patriots, too
