LOL! So you think that wealth just appears out of thin air?

Sorry...but someone has to be willing to pay those high wages. And how can anyone pay those high American wages unless they make money...and how can they make money if they aren’t competitive?

Hardly. But my original point stands - your position is absurd. If an IT worker can no longer afford his home because of pay cuts to third-world wages, guess what? He won't be able to afford to invest in their company, either. And you persist in denying that fundamental truth.

Sorry...but someone has to be willing to pay those high wages. And how can anyone pay those high American wages unless they make money...and how can they make money if they aren’t competitive?

They are quite competitive at current wages. There is a competitive advantage to operating in-country. What they want is to remove the competitive advantage from native workers by bringing the cheap labor here. Like I said, Indian workers can work for lower wages in India, and live quite comfortably there. But Americans cannot live a middle-class existence on Indian wages here.

Maybe you yearn for an America modelled on Argentina, where the middle class has been largely destroyed. Or resembling third-world countries where a few oligarchs live comfortably in gated and guarded communities and the rest live in a largely diminished world. That is the endgame of your viewpoints. And guess what? They'll toss you aside as well, as soon as they no longer need your shilling, and outsource your job as well.

Actually, if wages drop, so will those housing prices.

And I am not denying that many would suffer the long-term consequences if they don’t buy into the system (and I think that buying into the system is a risky Ponzi scheme, too). I am simply saying we can’t pretend the situation doesn’t exist.

But his mortgage will not. Buh-bye, home.

There is always a very narrow zone to try and work within as an employee trying to find the right wage. If workers demand too high of wages (like the GM UAW workers), they will drive their company out of existence or to other countries. But the flip side is, this country should NOT take steps to remove the competitive advantage of workers being in-country by allowing a flood of foreign workers in when there is no actual shortage of labor already in-country. The abuses of H-1B visas and many other visa programs have done just that.

Within that framework, I have no problem competing against other labor markets, and often help mop up outsourcing problems created by my employer and my client.

US citizens are always preferred. There aren't enough of them out there.

Apparently not enough to be President.
