Just when the teleprompter gets out of the news
Maybe President Obamas teleprompter wanted more coverage. After all, last month it was getting a ton of media attention. Especially when the teleprompter was retired temporarily in favor of a giant IMAX-type screen at the presidents last press conference.
Today, the teleprompter broke the moratorium and got back in the news cycle.
Big investment
The president was delivering a speech at the National Academy of Sciences annual meeting. In the remarks, Obama promised a significant increase in spending on science research.
I am here today to set this goal: We will devote more than 3% of our GDP to research and development, the president said.
We will not just meet, but we will exceed the level achieved at the height of the space race.
Future
What will the investment in science mean? Cool stuff.
Obama predicted:
1. Solar cells as cheap as paint. 2. Green buildings that produce all the energy they consume. 3. Learning software as effective as a personal tutor. 4. Prosthetics so advanced that an amputee could play the piano again.
Costly
What about people who say we cant afford it? After all, the president proposes to double the budgets of the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
I fundamentally disagree, he said.
Science is more essential for our prosperity, our security, our health, our environment and our quality of life than it has ever been before.
Oops
So far, so good. But then the jealous teleprompter demanded equal time.
When the president was announcing the members of his science and technology council, the teleprompter froze up.
Not having note cards, what else could the president do but admonish the TOTUS (Teleprompter of the United States) to knock it off.

“...Obama can’t speak without it because he is utterly ignorant of the subject, though he’d like to fool us into thinking otherwise.”
He hasn’t go us fooled. He has the MSM and the idiots who voted for him fooled.
I really think you are wrong on this one. He has 100% of the African-American voters fooled, 75-80% of the Hispanic voters and 20-30% of the rest of the voters fooled but he does NOT have the MSM fooled. They are carrying his water because they know he is the fastest road to their utopia.
The teleprompter hates Obama. I predict more mutinies in the future.
So we are going to devote 3% of GDP to science? Even in this economy, our GDP is around 12 Trillion. That equals roughly $360 Billion. Guess its just another drop in the bucket.
i’m lovin it
We will not just meet, but we will exceed the level achieved at the height of the space race.
I fundamentally disagree."
Was it Neal Boortz who said the secret to understanding Obama's worldview was to watch his personal pronouns. Who is "I"? Who are "We"? "I" is Himself and "We" refers to the genius-packed Obama Adminstration.
I think the bottom-line is Obama sees his administration as "Us" against "Them". "Them" is the American people.
All hail the TOTUS!
Obama predicted: 1. Solar cells as cheap as paint. 2. Green buildings that produce all the energy they consume. 3. Learning software as effective as a personal tutor. 4. Prosthetics so advanced that an amputee could play the piano again.#3 would be a spectacularly great development for homeschoolers and an excellent replacement for NEA members. :') #4 is practically here, the problem isn't the hardware itself, but rather the interface with the brain. #2 is essentially impossible nonsense. #1 will become possible once the federal gov't imposes a "paint tax" on top of the "carbon tax" (since many paints are made at least in part from petroleum products).
You are correct, the MSM isn’t fooled. They just are Zero’s partners in crime.
Bump.
