Better to go flying around in that neat little plane than to have to sit in that awful boring Oval Office and deal with mundane things such as the swine flu and the outrage following that flyover in Manhattan. I read somewhere that it cost $68K/hr just to run the plane (basically the fuel cost).
Then there is the staff, support aircraft, his $100/lb steaks, ground vehicles, local police escorts, accommodations for all these people, etc.
A trip like this could easily cost a million plus.
