Israeli strategy is all too often constructed, if not dictated, by American foreign policy and in particular, the American President. How then could American Jews risk the survival of the State of Israel on a man who they knew befriended and listened to an anti-Semitic pastor for 20 years, surrounded himself with anti-Semitic friends and advisors, promised to unconditionally reach out to Israel's (and America's) enemies, and flip flopped on the status of Jerusalem?
I have been clear that the status of Israel was too essential to the survival of the Jewish people to risk its continued existence with a vote for a man whose only redeeming quality was his ability to read eloquently (and sometimes too quickly) from a teleprompter. Shockingly, 78% of American Jews apparently disagreed and voted for Obama. What I have since concluded is that many of those liberal Jews were less concerned with the State of Israel than with their liberal values.
An analysis of the policies, statements and decisions made in these first 100 days of the Obama administration with regard to Middle East policy follows.
- While snubbing Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at the upcoming AIPAC summit, Obama's first official phone call as POTUS was to Palestinian leader, President Mahmoud Abbas.
- After just seven days on the job, Obama signed an order allocating $20.3 million for Palestinian migration and refugee assistance.
- Shortly thereafter Obama decided to earmark $900 million to rebuild Gaza and strengthen the Palestinian Authority. Many liberals naively argued that Hamas would never see those funds and they would never be used to rebuild the arms shipment tunnels the Israelis attempted to destroy. It has since been reported that the Obama administration has asked Congress

Obama: YES WE CAN throw Israel under the bus!
I believe the term used by Mark Levin was "self-loathing"
This is what I think. Those American Jews with political influence, Emanuel, Axlerod, Senators and congessmen, are not all that worried....yet. Should Israel get seriously threatened they are banking on the pro-Israeli supporters, mostly Repubs. evangelicals, Christians to come to Israel’s support. They will make the mess...others will clean it.
One of these days the aforementined politicos will be at home, w/friends, w/relatives, sharing supper, and then they will be asked, ‘why is it that we’re not helping Israel?” Only then will they see the light. And then they will call on us, who always supported Israel.
However, I’m not all that sure that the same support they miight have banked on will be there. For my part, I want their sons to go first, and I want their sons on the front line, the tip of the bayonet so to speak before mine go.
Afterall, they’re coming for the conservatives, for the Christians, and who among them is speaking up for us?
Bowing to the Saudis, courting Iran... the American Jewish community’s love of Liberals may have led them to the day they’ll witness the destruction of Israel.
American Jews are mostly liberal rather than mostly Jewish in their thinking.
I am appalled at American Jews’ very apparent lack of support for Israel and the Jews in that area. Does not compute.
for which they will blame "intransigent hardliners" in Israel and American conservatives and pro-Israel Christians. If Israel is overrun it will be due to the righteous anger of aggrieved Palestinians/Iranians/whoever at the lack of prescribed compassion of the Americans and Israelis.
My oldest friend (P)’s father lost most of his family to the NAZI concentration camps but (P) is fashionably anti-Israel. A lot of that feeling in American Leftists is reflexive enmity for any country or any group of people that is pro-American.
Liberal American Jews (apparently 78% of us) have traded in their Judiasm for the political cult of liberalism.
They think they are soooo smart voting for the first black POTUS, when really they have outsmarted themselves and fallen for the cult of personality, as well as falling for the preying on their white guilt.
And I remind my friends and cousins of this each time I email them an article about how Odumbo the Closet Muzlim is throwing Israel under the bus.
Many of my Jewish friends seem to believe that placating evil will make it go away. I don’t argue with them anymore, it is pointless. It just leads to long circular debates that go nowhere.
It may be that the Dems and their legions of fellow travelers have been, over the years, successful in painting Republicans as fascists, Nazis, reactionaries, etc. They repeat this mantra over and over at every opportunity and it works.
Dont argue with them- just keep sending them emails with the articles, and remind them, “FACTS, people, forget the personality cult”.
They are a hard headed bunch!
And thus they exorcise any trace of common sense from amongst themselves.
“And I remind my friends and cousins of this each time I email them an article about how Odumbo the Closet Muslim is throwing Israel under the bus.”
Good for you. They need to pay attention, but like the Jews in Germany before WWII, they (and many others) apparently think “it can’t happen here”.
My father was a combat veteran of WWII. He saw a concentration camp firsthand and had to fight his way through lines of Germans, through N. Africa, Sicily, Italy, into Germany to get there, then through scores of Nazi SS guards to help liberate the camp. Our family lived with scars and wounds from that war and it is frustrating to watch people in general, not just Jews, be so clueless. It is scary, but from reading scripture, I do not believe that the Lord is going to allow the destruction of Israel. If Obama is not a Muslim, he’s certainly doing a good impression of one.
I think you hit the nail on the head when you said “fashionably”. That’s what it’s all about with much of the liberal intelligentsia in this country.
Someone sent me a poignant cartoon yesterday, depicting an old man and a little girl on a park bench. She saw his concentration camp number on his arm and remarked that it was a boring tattoo as it was just numbers. She asked why he didnt get it removed.
The old man said he kept it as reminder. She said she understood as it would remind him of the difficult days he endured.
He replied, “It’s not a reminder for me. It’s a reminder for you.”

I don’t think American liberal Jews care about Israel.
