The US Defense Department said Tuesday it is weighing how best to manage the imminent release of photos showing abuse of detainees amid concern about an international backlash. The Pentagon announced last week it had agreed to release hundreds of photos from US-run prisons in Iraq and elsewhere in response to a long-running lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
The photos were used as evidence in criminal investigations of US soldiers accused of abusing detainees in the "war on terror" during president George W. Bush's administration.
"There is an extensive effort underway in this building, and in Central Command, and in Iraq and Afghanistan ... to determine the best way in which to share these photos with the public," Defense Department press secretary Geoff Morrell told reporters.
He said the photos, which date from 2001 to 2006, would not show a systematic pattern of abuse and that such cases were the exception.
"I think it needs to be put in perspective that these, ultimately, represent a very small percentage, a minute percentage of the overall interactions that our forces have had with detainees," Morrell said.

the “war on terror”...
may the cluster-f*ck clown shoed SOB’s in the media and the democratic party (same thing) be the very FIRST ones to die next time we are hit...
WHY ?
This is Pointless. We have Hardware like tanks, “Cameras” and the Al Queda Enemy does not take Pictures that the MSM will let us see....they are too violent to show the Public.
Americans can handle the Truth, but when it is this ONE SIDED it is NOT the Truth...its Propaganda, pure one sided Propagand.

I got your pictures right here ya f@#$@#% hippies.
Were any of the soldiers who “abused” detainees prosecuted for their actions?
Just wondering.
Well, I for one, want to see the film on the shooting of the pirates, Daniel Pearl’s unedited beheading, the jumpers of 9-11, the contract workers who were burned, disfigured and dragged through the streets of Fallujah and hung from the bridge shown repeatedly over and over again as the media will do with this pictures of so-called torture that our military conducted. I hate these people for turning our country into a whimpy image to the world. Let them see what the world does to our people when they get the chance.
When the jihadis resume attacks on American soil, using these photos as the excuse, every ACLU office should be overrun with folks dragging the scumbags into the street to pay for what they’ve done. But it won’t happen, the right will be blamed for “starting this war”. Mark my words.
My thoughts exactly. May the first plane that hits get the Capitol.
Obama’s decision is putting our armed forces in even greater danger. He’s putting the head of every military man and woman on the chopping block. Our enemies don’t put panties on heads for torture unless those heads are no longer attached to the body. With friends like Obama, we don’t need no stinkin’ enemies.
Anybody else thinking “Wag the Dog”? Why weren’t these released before? Are there going to be in the future?
So who took the pictures and why? There are too many pictures for the military to claim they didn’t know they were being taken.
Good point. All future interrogations ought to be televised for our military’s protection and so there is no question they are being treated with kid gloves then when the next attack happens they can be reviewed again for the mistakes that have been made that caused loss of American life.
I feel your anger So help me God I will blame every person who voted for that lame ass sissy boy. The blood of every service member and US citizen killed by one of those filthy bastards is on their hands.
Don’t forget the Soldiers or were they Marines who were captured in Iraq then tortured and mutilated. I am gonna start cursing sheesh.
probably won’t be a plane next time...probably lots of small incidents at malls, shopping centers, schools etc...its frightening to think about...I miss Dubya....I don’t miss EVERYTHING about him..but I missed knowing that this country was on the lookout...NOW, we have a homosexual illegal alien in the WH who has basically presented the key to all of our cities to the muzzies....may they all burn in hell...guess thinking this way makes me a fantatic extremist according to that c**t who sent out the memo
