My theory is that NYPD realized after the fact that it had been had, and if the Mayor was on its case, all bets were off and forget about “secrecy.”

An interesting note - someone here posted that he worked for a bank in Lower Manhattan that had received a detailed notice and schedule of the event, or at any rate, whose main office had notified the employees with a detailed schedule. He thought it was because it was a TARP bank, although it’s certainly not the only TARP bank in NYC,and to my knowledge, none of the others revealed anything. Maybe whoever released the info didn’t like Bambi?

Also, it’s possible that more people knew about it than we have been told, but if the agencies had been told to keep it quiet, they either assumed that ALL agencies knew and there was no need to discuss it, or that there was some good reason for keeping it from the ones that didn’t know and everything would become clear at the end. Which, of course, it did not...
