WASHINGTON (CNN) – Sen. Olympia Snowe — one of the three moderate Republicans including Arlen Specter who supported President Obama's stimulus package — told CNN Tuesday that she has also been approached many times about becoming a Democrat, but that it hasn't happened for a while.

"I've been asked, but not recently," she said.

Snowe said the Republican Party never learned its lesson from the "painful" party switch of Sen. Jim Jeffords in 2001.

I wish that Snowe would switch Parties, too....as well as Collins, Bennett, Cochran, Graham, Grassley, Lugar, Martinez, McCain, Voinovich, & Warner. Get rid of all of the big government “republicans”.

so does it really matter?

Only in a good way. The RNC won't be wasting any more money on keeping Snarlin' Arlen in office, and voting against the conservatives.

Don’t be a downer. We need to rebuild ground-up. We can win back the governor’s office for starters.

Snowe said the Republican Party never learned its lesson from the "painful" party switch of Sen. Jim Jeffords in 2001.

That statement is so sweeping as to be meaningless. Did she think that the 55+ Republican senators at that time should have made major changes to pacify Jumping Jim?

Pack your bags, Collins, and move to the other side with the other two snakes.

I wonder, out of idle scientific curiosity, if it is possible a woman could be born this stupid and survive, or if she actually took stupid-lessons somewhere downeast.

The "lesson" of Jumpin' Jim Jeffords was that the GOP went on to register gains in 2002 and Jeffords disappeared into well-earned obscurity, his lame career totally aborted by his treason.

She is no longer needed. The Dems have 60. She is devastated.

I'm sure both "Sisters from Maine" are devastated. I'm channeling Rahm Emanuel (as Michael Corleone) saying to Olympia and Susan (as Fredo I & Fredo II), "you mean nothing to me. You're not a friend, you're not kin. I won't even allow maple syrup from Maine within 10 miles of Obama's waffles."

Sadly, you are correct. We will always have to suffer them or we get a ‘rat. The key is more GOPers elswhere where we have lost them...

I don’t think she understands as do any of the RINOS; we don’t think they stand up for us. They keep shoving bipartism down our throats and know full well the Dims won’t play that game. Politics is all about paying yourself and your buddies and nothing for the voter. They are spending our money both sides at break neck speed and have agendas we know nothing about. They think nothing of doing things undercover while pretending to be for the voter and that includes both parties. We are sick of it. We want the best for America and her people and all they give us is the back of their hand. Washington DC has become a bubble of only little babies who not only expect us but demand us to pay for their lavish little lifestyles. We don’t want to do that and we aren’t going to do it. Now, when the you know what hits the fan; they are screaming it’s our fault. Don’t blame us. Instead look in the mirror. You are the ones doing everything and not even glancing our way and that goes for both sides.

“He’ll still be re-elected.”

Nonsense, you don’t win with 2/3 disapproval.

However where he’ll lose will be the rat primary (if Obama doesn’t give him a job and doesn’t even run) probably to Tim Cahill, State Treasurer.

I expect the Republican will get at most 42/43% of the vote.

Fieldmarshaldj has opined many times that it’s fairly pointless to have the MA Governorship with a 90% rat legislature that can easily override vetoes and GOP should focus on gaining some legislative seats. The last time they did that it was because of awful rat Governor Dukakis.

I’d rather have the office than not but it wouldn’t do much good. If it was another worthless RINO it would only hurt the GOP anyway.

Snowe was approached, too. They are hell bent (and bent on dragging us all with them) on the 60 senate seats. Whatever works for them.

Yes, he’s been a rino for some time. Now he can hope to join Franken for their 60 senate seat filibuster proof dem majority. Something the dems have been hoping and working toward for some time.

Oh I see Christy Mihos (ex-RINO?) is running again as an Independent. Last time he took Republican votes.

That’s true - but who is there to run against him (Coupe Deval)? Christy Mihos? Eehhh... Maybe draft Carla Howell (Libertarian)?

But I will not hope for any GOP rebound before 2014.
____________
I think you are grossly optimistic. I will be SHOCKED if we even have elections in 2014. Remember that I said that. I hope I’m wrong.

What she means is the same thing the RINO-led GOP has been saying. To wit: Pubbies need to be more like demrats to win.

Well, if that’s true, than why not just register as a dermrat. Among the stupidist things I ever heard.
