Gore pleads for rapid action to halt ice melt
AFP ^ | April 28, 2009

Nobel prize climate champion and former US vice president Al Gore called Tuesday for rapid action to prevent the potentially irreversible melting of the planet's ice, just months before a UN climate summit.

Speaking at the first conference devoted to melting ice, held in the Norwegian town of Tromsoe ahead of the UN meeting in Copenhagen in December, Gore warned that the situation was worse than the worst-case scenarios presented by experts a few years ago.

"This conference is a global wake-up call," Gore said, adding: "The scientific evidence for action in Copenhagen in December is continuing to build up week by week."

He explained why the melting ice posed such a threat to the planet.

"Ice is important through the ecological system of the Earth for many reasons, but one of them has to do with its reflexivity," he said.

Ice reflects 90 percent of the sun's radiation back into the atmosphere. If the ice were to melt, the dark water would not reflect the heat but instead absorb it, thereby accentuating the effect of global warming.

"As it disappears we have to keep in mind that it can come back only if we act fairly quickly," said Gore, who shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

He explained that "if we keep turning the temperature of the Earth up, then the heat will go to lower depths of the Arctic Ocean and it will be impossible for the ice to come back."

Oh what I’d give to read that a frozen Gore has been discovered in an ice cap.

Gore, Specter, et al...

Notice the common lack of any integrity or technical knowledge?

Notice that none have ever had, or could have, a real job?

Notice that they’re all senators?

Hahahahahahaha! I need that! I also need some Jack. Is it true that it can be rubbed on my baby’s gums? Or is it to be used by me, in large quantities?

Compare the global warming crowd to any of the end-times prophets asserting that they’ve determined the specific dates of Biblical prophecy.

Compare the government-spending-and-action can stimulate-economic-growth crowd to the end-times Bible prophets.

The end-times mis-prophets ain’t got nothing on the Obama regime, the Democratic Congress, and many of the left wing political groups.

He’s more deranged than Mel Kiper Jr. and no doubt jealous Mel got more press during the NFL draft.

“..Gore warned that the situation was worse than the worst-case scenarios presented by experts a few years ago.”

How does he know that and why do, supposedly intelligent people, accept this crap? It is obvious that the whole climate change argument is merely a political ploy. Someone is going to end up with big bucks and that someone is Algore and friends.

He knows that the ice stopped melting years ago and without action he can't claim credit for it.

I think you've got something there - these guys want to DO something so they can take credit for what's already happening naturally.

Amazing how “the inventor of the Internet” is defeated by the Internet - everyday, as in:

We need rapid action! Slow action will let too many people see that nothing is really occurring. Kinda like, “you can only get this hot deal on the car TODAY!!!”

Compare and contrast with this recent story.

I know, I know, thicker ice caps was part of their model even when they predicted thinner ice caps. I think the GW activists produced wildly different models and none of them agree on anything. But then when anything happens they can pick one model that predicted it.

"Ice is important through the ecological system of the Earth for many reasons, but one of them has to do with its reflexivity," he said.

I think The Dunce meant reflectivity, but he is a dunce after all. And just what does he propose we do - buy more carbon credits from his company?
