He was once described as having a mix of "entrepreneurial know-how and evangelistic zeal," and a preference for black T-shirts and four-day-old beards over suits and ties.
Meet David Jacobson, a senior fundraiser for Barack Obama who is poised to become the next United States ambassador to Canada.
This "smart, talented" Chicago lawyer would be an "inspired choice," Washington sources say.
Reached at the White House yesterday, Jacobson, 57, politely declined to talk about the speculation he would soon be coming to Ottawa to represent the United States.
....
Jacobson was a partner at the Chicago law office of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP, where he practised in the areas of complex commercial law, securities and business litigation.
He is working at the White House as special assistant to the president in the Office of Presidential Personnel, where he is helping Obama staff the administration.
As deputy finance chair of Obama's campaign, helping to deliver millions of dollars in donations, Jacobson likely had his pick of political postings. The fact that he chose Canada speaks well of this country's status with the new administration, said Maryscott Greenwood, executive director of the Canadian-American Business Council in Washington.
If he can't find people to work at Treasury, how can he find Canada on the map?
..any association with ACORN?
It's a gift.
Let’s give Canada (and all of our allies) a ‘blanket apology’ for us electing 0bama.
We are going to be reaping what is and will be sewn these coming four years in ways we cannot even imagine right now.
*SHUDDER*
Well I am one Canadian who definitely preferred the previous administration.
He lacked ONE qualification to be appointed, it appears he wasn’t in arrears in paying his taxes.
Wow, another lawyer from Chicago
Does he have ties to Rahmbo?
How diverse
Maybe he's a just a hockey fan.
He had a Molsons once.
The Obamaloon administration is composed of academic losers - none of which could earn an honest dollar in the real world.
Of course, our ambassadors and envoys have a long history of idiocy....the Head Loon is simply turning the volume up to 11.
I see Jacobson practices the same grooming standards as does William Ayers. As all of these 1960s leftists look alike, I wonder if there was a chapter in Mao's Little Red Book dedicated to personal hygiene, or lack there of.

You’re right. This guy will fit right in with other Soetoro appointments—they all look like they just crawled out from beneath rocks.”
I still remember my first Molsons!
My first Canadian beer was Schooner. In Fundy National Park. GOOD TIMES! I wish I was 14 again. Thank you, Lauren MacDonald from Trois Riviere. I'll never forget!
Yo Fanfan, Canada ping, if interested.
Mine, too. And also in NB (Woodstock.) When I'm up there, it's either Schooner or Keith's for me.
Another here. The previous ambassador David Wilkins was a wonderful man. He will be missed in Ottawa, but Greenville, South Carolina will be fortunate to have him back.
